    Hi Rama,

If it is Satyanarayana swami vratam then you should prepare as many recipes as you can and most important rava kesari. I hope you know the recipe.

You can also prepare dal, rasam 1 or 2 curries ,paayasam lemon rice and either vadas or bujjis. and papadams too.

    Hope it helps.

    Dear Rama,

Normally, people are invited and lunch is served. Usually, the following are served: satyanarayan prasad, one more sweet, kosambri, kheer or payasam, two vegetable curries, lime rice, plain rice, puri and aloo curry, rasam or sambar, curd rice, pickle and papad. Hope this helps.

Avoid onion, garlic or masala items while preparing prasad lunch. Hope this will help you.

    Rama,

we are from hyderabad too and this is the menu mostly cooked for the occassion in our families:

    Chinta pandu pulihora
    Chenaga pappu garelu
    Semiya payasam
    Palakura pappu
    Nimpudu vankaaya
    Alugadda vepudu
    Tomato chaaru
    vadiyalu \ papad
    White rice
    Perugu

    Naivedyam is of 2 types.
    1. Pindi naivedyam (wheat flour, ravva, sugar, nuts, sliced banana & coconut)
    2. Ksheera naivedyam (Ravva, sugar & Milk)

our tradition is to use five measures of each ingredient for the dry naivedyam (very small cups) and 1:1:3 for the ksheera naivedyam (as told to me by my parents and my DH's grand mother)

Kosamber is a salad made with soaked lentils, finely cut green chillies and grated raw coconut. Lemon juice, salt and cilantro is used for dressing.

    Dear Rama,

KOSAMBRI, means a salad prepared with soaked yellow moong dal. It’s a good side dish which we used to serve in functions and weddings. We bramins used to prepare this on Sri Rama Navami day with out fail. In that we use grated carrot, chopped green chilies ,fresh coconut with a pinch of salt and a dash of lemon juice. We mix these raw items withsoaked moong dal. That is all the dish is ready.
    try this out.
