There are some credulous people we would have come across in life who believe in meaningless sentiments. The one which is really horrid is that natural happenings are correlated to sentiments.A cat walking across, power shut down when speaking about important things or taking important decisions in life ,if we happen to see a widow if we are stepping out for some function are some extraneous reasons cited by people for failures in life. All these are not planned activities in our life.Going a step ahead and insulting a women in the name of sentiments is indeed a heinous act.An educated and a cultured man should fall into this sordid trap. Even when the world contorts ,these hasty sentiments will never die unless we put an end to it.

In television, especially in serials the sentiments are highlighted more and were given too much importance. What is painstaking here is that they never try to give a positive message.Instead they awaken the sleeping minds and try to corrupt the people.I would like to narrate a scene in one of the serials telecasted at noon. A parent is eagerly searching bridegrooms for their daughter who is of the marriageable age.For one reason or the other the proposals are going out of hand. The girl (bride) visits temple with her mother, the camphor lit off when the priest brought near to her.Her pity mother complains of “sagunam” and felt dejected. The proposal was cancelled again. So the media itelf conveys that sentiments are true. There is no moral conveyed rather than making use of squalid sentiments ,speaking and adorning the petty politics.I can only conclude that sentiments are an obscure promulgation(law).

    So friends,what is your opinion?

    Hi,

I do agree with you. Being sentimental is fine but not to an extent of blindly following whatever heard and seen.As u said Media with the serials are just supporting and corrupting people to follow them .Whoever is watching these serials should just take them as entertainment and not try and implement what is shown.

To a large extent people relate their lives with what happens on the screen. This statement is a a practical one as i have seen my MIL doing that. Not to be rude but such things will effect only people who are not practical and dream about a life which is not theirs.

    Regards
    Sri

True to myself, I followed some sentiments or so-called superstitions imposed by myself and blindly followed it, in my school and college days.
But when I came to believe that when something happens, it happens for good or for a reason, and what has to happen will happen, it broke the barriers of my sentiments and came out of it, hopefully--as a whole.

    Dear srivatsa,
Thanks for joining me.You are right.Being sentimental is fine, like if we happen to speak abt some important things in our life, like marriage, poojas, functions, some may not be aware ,they switch off the light. This need not be correlated with sentiments but it is a practical thing(common sense).Chitvish's article on"Why do we light a lamp" also speaks on the importance of spirituality in lighting a lamp.

Now a days women relate their lives to something telecasted on screen which is really horrible.I think people do not implement everything which is shown on TV,they take and choose the one which favours them and not the one one which is good and have positive side effects.

    Thanks once again

    Dear srini,
It is good that u truly accepted u followed sentiments once upon a time.I repeat ur words

""But when I came to believe that when something happens, it happens for good or for a reason, and what has to happen will happen""

That is one hundredth of a word.Whatever is to happen it is going to happen.Nothing is in our hands,I strongly believe in this statement and God decides everthing in our life. I would also like to quote this dialogue by actor vijay from the movie Bhagavadhi .

""Aandavan KUdukkaradha yaralum Thadukka mudiyadhu Aandavan Thadukkaradha yaralum KUdukka mudiyadhu ""

I don't emphasise that we cannot do anything,We can make the impossible possible but we should also possess tha capability of accepting things which cannot be changed.....
    Thanks for ur FB.Keep posting..
