Does she have a skin condition etc? Why are you bent up on "improving" her complexion? Usually babies don't stay the same color after the first 5 years. Perhaps your baby will be fair later if you and your hubby are fair. I urge you to rethink applying anything on her delicate skin. At least consult a pediatrician before you do these... Please

I was about to say this... As it is a child needs help to know that her parents love her no matter what and that she is a beautiful and strong woman. From the beginning if we start this BS (sorry couldn't help it) about being fair, imagine the blow the child would face aftr she grows up.
I think op should seriously stop worrying about this fairness thing

    Hi,

This post made me curious to post my views.

I, dont think OP is worrying about her child's complexion. She just seeks assistance to help her kid's complexion. I think this is an inherent quality in Indian women, to have a fair child. There is nothing wrong in such thought.

Whenever we get to see this kind of query, normally people's reply would admonish the mother, saying take care of the child's health, and complexion is not important.I think as parents, we would obviously take good care of the child's health and shower them with love and affection.

If you have anything valid to offer, please help and dont offend people.

This is just my opinion and not to offend anyone.

    Regards,
    Janani

Note- I'm a proud mother of a dusky angel.

Janani, I guess you missed the point that she is seeking to improve complexion of her "baby". With due respects...I voiced my opinion to at least let the mother know that there are people who think that being dusky is just as fine. As for offending her, it was not my intention... Told he in my post itself.
Sometimes we get so caught with the set paradigms that we forget what could be best for the child. In those circumstances, a different stand point sure brings forth some new thoughts. Don't you agree?

Anyway... Hope op is successful in improving her babies complexion.

Janani the more I think about what you said, the more guilty I feel for what I said.

Op: I am sorry to call that BS. I had no right to say so even though I am completely against what you want. As a parent, you have every right to want what you believe in...in this case a fair baby. I was a little worried because I wouldn't have let any one apply any fairness cream on my baby. Out o the same concern, I voiced my opinion. But calling it BS is certainly crossing a line. I apologize.

    Wow..this has become controversial.

@deepplav I am sure you are taking very good care of your baby. No doubts about that.

@janani the OP is obviously worrying about child's complexion. she wants her baby to become fair soon. As you said there is nothing wrong with this thought. Only thing is it might be a little too soon to act on homemade remedies. If the OP had asked the question for a much older child then answers might have been different.

When people post questions in a public forum there tend to be varied opinions. I truly agree with rakhiis point in terms of being caught in paradigms. Everyone who answered were only showing genuine concern for the baby.

    Hi Deepa,

I would like to give you some suggestions.

i.Use olive oil to massage you child before bath.
ii. Use gram flour(kadalai maavu) and badam.both together made as powder.use this instead of soap.
iii.use atogla. Its a baby lotion and improves the complexion or maintains the fairness.u can get this in apollo pharmacy or else where.it smells little eggish but if you can if you can bear go ahead and use.you can very well see the difference and glow when used twice a day.(note:personal experience with my child)

    Regards,
    Ramya Pradeep.
