    Hi ladies,
I'm a stay at home mom of a 2 yr 10 month old baby girl , looking to restart my career.
    My background as follows:
I'm a commerce graduate, worked in the IT sector before having my baby, for 7 yrs. Now, I'm looking for a change in my career. I am passionate about being a preschool / Kindergarden school teacher. Since I don't have any relevant qualification to support this career, I thought I can do a montessori training program , which I enquired in a well-credited institution. They have a 1 year diploma in montessori training (a uk based training center) , for which they charge close to 3 lacks , when converted to indian money.
In addition to passion, I think, practically, I can take care of my family with a not-so-heavy work life.

    1. Do you think it is worth the effort, time & most importantly money , to spend on this course?
    2. What are the pros & cons of being a preschool / kindergarden teacher?

I would like to hear your views / suggestions on this.

    thanks for all your inputs,
    Regards,

    namratha,
your thought on career change is practical.
Teaching is a very noble profession but requires lot of patience and hard work.
There is nothing called not so heavy work life.....
I know few ladies who are in this profession, work load is there even though there is advantage of plenty holidays:)
    All the best

    Hi Nakshathraa,
teaching preschool kids is a great experience.I too was in a similar situation 25 yrs ago.Would like to share my experience with you.I am a qualified dietition.I got married to a Delhi boy.So shifted to delhi.I couldnt go out to work till my 2 kids were born.Though i had my in-laws at home, my MIl was against me working.Against her wishes, I joined montessary teachers training dip.course of 1yr duration. that time it was 2000/rs.my DH also thought it was useless to waste money.but somehowI persued it. As soon as I completed the course, I got a job.My first salary was 900/-
I changed schools 2-3 times and finally settled in 1public school.here I became permanent in 2yrs.my principal was particularly happy with me,as I was good in teaching English conversation.Almost al he students in the class used to interact in English which no other class did at that time.after 10 yrs of teaching, i was promoted to the post of incharge. Our school paid us almost as much as the govt.schools paid.I worked as an incharge for 6yrs.Unfortunately my DH got transferred to Pune and I had to leave the job.in 2006,I was getting TGT grade, about 16000/-.At present my counterparts are getting about 40,000/-by the 6th pay commission.
The whole experience was totally satisfying.because you are the first person a child interacts outside home. They become so fond of the teacher, they want to share their emotions, experiences, love with you. Some of them used to even come and joke, "ma'm we have come in class 10, you are still in Ukg."
My greatest happiness was after coming to Pune, Last year to my surprise one of my student whom I tought in UKG in the yr,2000,sent a friendship request.I of course accepted. She said, she searched me at the time of school farewell. came to know I have left school, found me on Facebook.after her ,many others sent friendship request.they all came to meet me in one of my visits to delhi. It was the happiest moment of my life.these girls were hardly 5-6yrs old when I tought them.Still they remembered me.I must have made some difference to them. since then, I get messages on teachers day and all major festivals.

    Hi incharge,
Wow, wow , wow, thanks a lot :bowdown :bowdownfor a very positive feedback.
I was very skeptical about the course, as i said, it involves a lot of money , time & effort. I'm willing to work hard to achieve my desired result , with a good guidance from experienced people like u.
I can really see myself & my thoughts in you with your kind words.
