    Dear Desi Pop, sorry Kamalji,

You are right. Regardless of race, I think a parent's instinct is to protect and shelter their kids from unhealthy choices in life and be concerned about their welfare but being an Indian, we do it in our unique 'desi' way which is why our children just love tagging adjectives like pushy, cheap, ambitious and nosy to our 'Desi Mom' or 'Desi Pop' title. :) Thanks for stopping by Kamalji.

    Dear Tanoshi,

Thanks for stopping by and please don't dread being called a 'Desi Mom'. As your children grow up enough to question you, (I don't see why any of these reasons will change with time)feel free to justify your actions to your kids by quoting the same items on this list.

It is a privilege and an honor to be raised by a 'Desi' parent. Our kids just don't know it, that's all.:rant (at least that's how I get through my day ). :)

Undoubtedly, 'Mommy duties' take priority over everything. I know this only too well Janani so thanks for finding time in between to stop by and say that you enjoyed reading this post. I appreciate it a lot.

    Dear Sonia,

Yes, my girls read my post. While one just rolled her eyes in her own inimitable style even as she fought to stop the smile, the little one said 'Very funny amma but did you really have to mention the unmentionables?'. :rotfl God, no wonder I am crazy about them.

    Wonderful snippet Desi mom :)
First of all kudos to your patience, I really dont know what I would do with a kid who rebels(adding fuel to the fire of other fears about the culture/lifestyle here). But, don't worry, soon, she will realize why you were so being a 'desi mom' and how she herself might become one, when the time comes.
It's funny isnt, having rebelled myself, when I had been a teenager and making my parents fret and fume often, I realize now how only the roles really change(when a daughter becomes a mother), lot of things don't :)

    Hi Meena,

[IMG] you have nicely pointed out things from the angle of a teenager. But those restrictions & monitoring their life puts them in right path and will also cultivate those habits in them when their little ones grows up. Desi moms always thinks to give her best to her childern. Tradition passes on, can be relaxed sometimes but 'desi' DNA is hard to change. Joining you with my glass of tomato rasam :cheers
