Metal Engraving

Looks simple, but it’s actually a very tough thing to make. Metal engraving takes a lot of effort and pain. But the completed work will make all your efforts worthwhile.

Engraving tools are available at Raja Market - Bangalore, not many shops have them. Also the sheets are really thicker than embossing sheets. They are available near S.P. Road behind the mosque(Aluminium thick sheets). Unlike embossing, engraving sheets are thicker and have to be framed to a board before one start the work. While framing one should make sure there are no air gaps because if the sheets are not tightly framed it make result in holes while engraving.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have registered the suggestion in my mind, hope next time the photo turns out to be better.
The procedure and the things required:

Aluminium sheet
Metal Tools
Carbon paper
Trace of the design
Brush
Black enamel paint

First you have to get the metal sheet framed to a board tightly without any air gaps. The reason is once you start engraving if there is any air gaps, it may result in holes. Stick the trace to the metal sheet and trace the design to the metal sheet. Once the design has been traced you need to use the metal tools and start slowly engraving. Its more like scrapping the thin sheet. Once you have scrapped the whole design. You use a nail and punch the whole background. After which you paint the background using black enamel. You can also use glass colors to color the dress. But I felt the engraved designs would be covered and not clear so I did not paint. Hope I have been able to explain the procedure.
