    Hai Praveena,
Chamki work originally was a tedious affair with many processes involved. But i guess u can use the 3d outliners from fevicryl available in many shades to do the work. the effect will be similar.you can even intersperse the chamki designs with kundans or mirrors..hope this was of some help.

    hai

iam kalpana sree. i also have interest in embroidery and have done some basic works, but unable to post now. regarding chamki work, u can do it easily if u get the design printed on the saree. in andhra , it is very common, but not so easily available in chennai. if u know any friend doing embroidery work, get a design printed on a plain saree, but not cotton saree, bcos cotton saree will be suitable for fabric painting. once the design is printed, u can easily proceed. i will post my works next time. i should thank varloo here (she is a active member of IL, she writes very often, hope u all know her.) for her help. bye for now.

    Hi Kalpana,

    Thanks for your information.

Do you know anyone who prints the design on the saree at chennai?

    Regards,

    Hi padma,

Thanks for explaining me the procedure.

Is there any specific distance we can mark for the flowers in body of the saree and in the pallu so that it looks good and uniform?

    :cheersPraveena

    HAI FRIENDS
i was under the impression that chamki work only means the old tradition of stamping the cloth with a thick viscous liquid .And then before the print is dry ,gold and silver powder is dusted on to it.The result is very elegant ..Does chamki work also mean the embroidery with sequins? Please do clear my doubt.
    Thanx, sumitha

    hai praveena

at present i dont know anybody doing print for sarees. if i come to know i will surely help u. u can try this way. if u are aware of fabric painting, do some painting on a kercheif or any small cloth, then start stiching with chamkis whereever needed. if you are satisfied with it, then do it on a blouse. then u can work for a saree. bye.
