" ஏண்டாப்பா இந்த பண்டிகைகள் வருகிறதோ என்று இருக்கிறது," என்று ஜானகி சொன்னதைக் கேட்டு ராமச்சந்திரன் அவளை வியப்புடன் பார்த்தார். " பின்னே என்னன்னா? பண்டிகைக்குப் பண்டிகை உள்ளூரிலுள்ள பிள்ளை, நாட்டுப்பெண்கள், பேரப்பிள்ளைகளுடன் எல்லாரும் சேர்ந்து பண்டிகை கொண்டாடுகிறோம் பேர்வழி என்று நம்ம வீட்டுக்கு வந்துவிடுகிறார்கள். சரி, வருவதுதான் வருகிறார்களே, கொஞ்சமாவது ஒத்தாசையாக இருக்கிறார்களா? அம்மா, உங்க கைமணம் யாருக்கு வரும்? இந்த மாதிரி சுவையோடும் மணத்தோடும் சாப்பிடுவதற்காகவே சிரமத்தைப் பாராமல் வருகிறோம்," என்று ஐஸ் வைத்துப் பேசிவிட்டுப் போகிறார்கள் வயசான காலத்தில் ஏதோ நம்மால் முடிந்ததைப் பண்ணிவிட்டுக் கிருஷ்ணா ராமா என்று இருக்க முடியவில்லை. என்ன இருந்தாலும் என் அக்கா ராஜி அதிர்ஷ்டசாலி.வயசான காலத்தில் ஒருத்தர் தொந்தரவில்லாமல் அக்காவும் அத்திம்பேரும் தனிக்குடித்தனம் பண்ணுகிறார்கள்," என்று அலுத்துக்கொண்டாள்.
" என்னவோ போங்க, பண்டிகைகள் ஏன் தான் வருகிறதோ என்று இருக்கிறது," என்று சொன்ன ராஜியை அவள் கணவர் கோபாலன் வியப்புடன் பார்த்தார்."
பின்னே என்னன்னா, மூன்று பசங்கள் இருந்தும் யாரும் நம்முடன் இல்லாமல் ஒவ்வொருத்தர் ஒவ்வொரு இடத்தில் இருக்கிறார்கள். நீயும் நானும்டீ எதிரும் புதிரும்டீ என்று பசங்களைப் பிரிந்து என்ன பண்டிகை கொண்டாட வேண்டி இருக்கிறது?என்ன இருந்தாலும் என் தங்கை ஜானகி அதிர்ஷ்டசாலி. பசங்கள் எல்லாம் உள்ளூரிலேயே இருக்கிறார்கள்.எல்லாரும் சேர்ந்து பண்டிகை கொண்டாடுகிறார்கள். குழந்தைகுட்டிகளுடன் வீடேகலகலப்பாக இருக்கும். எதற்கும் கொடுத்து வைத்திருக்கவேண்டும்," என்று முடித்தாள்.

thank you for showing so much interest. This is a short story based on the proverb, " Grass is greener on the other side."


" I do not know why these festivals are coming," lamented Janaki. Her husband Ramachandran looked at her quizzilcally.
" Oh, what to say! For each and every festival our sons and daughter in laws comes with the children to our house to celebrate the festivals with us beacause they are staying in the same city. But do they come and help me? They just praise me lavishly saying," Oh mom, you make so much yummy yummy , tasty dishes and we just love to relish them. H.......m How I envy my sister Raji and my brother in law! In their old age they both live on their own and enjoy life!"

" I really hate these festivals," said Raji. Gopal, her husband was surprised to hear this and looked at her.
" H.....m! We have three children and six grand children. What's the use? Each one is staying quite far away. we are destined to celebrate the festivals all alone. I really envy my sister Janaki! She celebrates the festivals with her children and grand children! She is really gifted to be surrounded by children who creates the festival mood!"
