Rojapoo, posts vanishing has become a regular thing now. I close the page only after making sure, it "appears". You seem to admire the unseen Sir than the known poor me :-( Ellam en rasi!!:bonk
Vegetable and Dhal Masala - unusual and exotic taste. I bought nakeshwar, kalpasi & maratti moggu in Nattu marundu kadai. Try to buy them; if not,you have no choice but to omit them. This can be used for all vegetable sabjis, dhals etc and is specially good for cauliflower. Roast each of the following ingredients individually in a dry tava till aroma comes. Cool & powder in the mixi. Red chillies - 250 gms Dhaniya - 250 gms Bay leaves - a handful Pepper - 50 gms Khuskhus - 50gms Nakeshwar - 50 gms Shahjeera - 50 gms Big cardamom - 8-10 Cinnamon - 5 gms Cloves - 5 gms Saunf - 5 gms Pathar ke phool - 6 heaped tbsp (kalpasi – blackstone flower) Copra - ½ cup (optional) – I normally don’t add. Hing - 1 tbsp Haldi - 1 tbsp Sabji: Cut vegetables into small cubes(3 cups) & cook with 2 diceed tomatoes + minimum water, till soft. Add salt and 1 tbsp masala. Simmer & cook till well blended and the vegetables absorb the flavor of the masala. Garnish with coriander leaves. You can try without adding tomatoes, as a dry masala etc. Use your imagination.
Dear C, I have started to lay my hands in the kitchen after a break. My inlaws are currently staying with us. They are the appreciative type and hence I am much interested in cooking some nice dishes for them. Will update you slowly. Yesterday, made idli & tomato kurma for breakfast and the traditional CVVK and potato roast for lunch. SIL and her husband were also there with us. SIL repeatedly entered the kitchen asking about the nice smell of the food. I too felt good to cook some nice food for them after a long time. Thanks to you ma. There is so much of confidence in me now. I am planning to make some dish out of drumstick leaves that I got today. Will update you tomorrow. Lijo and Roja, thanks for asking about me. missed you all too. Aha, feels good to be back here. Will catch up daily for sure. Lots of love to you.
Dear Hridhaya, Very nice to hear from you!! It is really encouraging if the in-laws are the appreciative type!! All the best
Dear C, Yesterday we celebrated karthigai. I made manoharam, pori urundai, neiyappam, meduvadai, groundnut urundai and caramel lapsi payasam. Everything came out so good. My FIL couldn't believe when I told him that I made everything for first time!! Ofcourse MIL helped me for checking paagu, but recipe is yours. FIL, M finished entire manoharam and verkadalai urundai already. I will attach the photos shortly. For sunday evening snack, I made paneer tikka, wow it came out so well. M went mad about it he did say that he isnot going to order it if we dine outside. He mentioned a special thanks to you. My inlaws also loved it super Sunday snack.
Dear mami, I made pori urundai, appam and adai for karthigai. Pori urundai came perfect with candy thermometer reading at 240 degree, and your tips of not rolling it tight . And today I made Food Processor Almond Cookies after saras's photos, I was tempted to try it. I made it using hand beater and it came pefect for rolling and flattening. I got around 3 dozen and distributed to my sister's kids and got great feedbacks. All thanks to you. I am just attaching the photos for your viewing.
Dear Chithuma, Made Carrot poricha kuzhambhu today. simply superb!Made adai and appam for karthigai. Amma made pori urundai . Celebrated karthigai well! M was so excited to see lamps all over. CHithuma, does poppat jamal or currimbouys have a separate knife holder? I'm having a tough time hiding my knife set from M.
Dear Mam, Abacharam... Sorry for not obliging. Yay for veg-dhal masala. I made cauliflower curry with that. It was like 'Wow'. What a flavour! I halved the ingredients. Exactly weighed everything. I had everything except nakeshwar. What is it called in Tamil? It seems your brain is working in the kitchen 24/7. Isn't it? Great day!
Mam, Somethingelse to tell you. I used all the 4 burners to fry and I was done with the frying part in a jiffy. I couldn't edit my previous post?!
