    Hello Everyone !

I guess the dates for the 2012 shopping fest have been declared from 5 Jan to 5 Feb 2012.We have made plans to visit Dubai for a month.

-Can any of you kindly let me know whats best to buy at this time of the year especially any good deals etc.

    - I know Gold Souk is huge but any particular shops with good designs and reasonable labour charges.

    - Do they exchange gold incase we want to i.e I mean give some olld unwanted or coins we already have .

    - What about Global village ?Anything good to buy there?

    - Is the entertainer family book worth if 4 adults are coming as I saw few deals for safari ,show cruise etc but are the overall savings worth the cost of the book if we wont be using many of the restaurants or fine dining advertised as my parents are very particular about food and may not want to experiment at their age.

    - Anythign else to watch out for at this time is appreciated.

    Regards

    Priti

    Hi Priti,
I'm also planning to visit Dubai during the shopping festival. Are you opting for the packaged tour or independent tour? Have you booked any hotel to stay or shortlisted any? Let me know more about the deals which you got to know. I'm planning to opt for the Jet Airways package.

    Hi Priti !

You could check Damas Outlets , Labour charges would vary depending upon your taste for designs in Meena Bazzar Or Naif mkt for gold , there labour charges would be more competitive .

Exchange I've my doubts , If you plan to sell Indian Gold here then I would not suggest , as you get the rate for 18k even if it may be indian 22k .

Global Village shud be good as you get the chance to bargain , Various Kiosks from Different countries . Something you would want to pick .

If you've Vouchers , discount Coupons n books are a plus as you would get to pay less otherwise which would cost a bomb here .

Would suggest you to check the following site for Comprehensive info !
    Dubai Events | Events » DubaiEvents.ae

Hope it helps. pls dont hesitate to revert ! Hope you\ve grt time !!

    Cheers

Electronic items with bundle offer at various electronic shops.
    - I know Gold Souk is huge but any particular shops with good designs and reasonable labour charges.
If you are looking for Indian designs, I would even suggest Al Haseena, Joy Alukkas, Chemmanur Jewellery etc
    - Do they exchange gold incase we want to i.e I mean give some olld unwanted or coins we already have .
If you have 24 grams gold coin, then it is worth exchanging, as there is no damages slapped for old gold. But if you want to exchange jewellery for jewellery, certinaly there would be loss.

    - What about Global village ?Anything good to buy there?
Global Village has various Kiosks from many countries. You can buy small stuff like artificial jewelelry, photo frames, etc.at GV. But it is full time pass and must see during DSF.

    - Is the entertainer family book worth if 4 adults are coming as I saw few deals for safari ,show cruise etc but are the overall savings worth the cost of the book if we wont be using many of the restaurants or fine dining advertised as my parents are very particular about food and may not want to experiment at their age.

Desert Safari (day trip recommended) If you liek adventure, you will love the dune bashing. You can even reqest the tour operator to take you to the tent and simply enjoy the belly dancing and food amidst camp fire.
Dhow cruise: Here you can take a sunset cruise or the cruise at 8PM which takes about 2 hours and dinner will be served.
At the top (Viewing deck at Burj Khalifa 124th floor).:
This costs AED 100/- per person, if you book in advance. But on the spot booking, you have to pay AED 400 per person. so please plan ahead and save money. I personally like the sunset time (around 5-5:30 PM in winter) where you can see the Dubai skyline in daylight as well as evening time.

Please feel free to let me know if have any questions.
    Regards
