    Devyani Rana !

Devyani Rana [IMG] was the girlfriend of

Crown Prince Dipendra of Nepal. [IMG]

    Introduction:

She is the daughter of Pashupati Shumsher Jung Bahadur Rana, the president of one of the democratic political parties of Nepal.
    According to published reports,

the refusal of Dipendra's parents to consent to his marriage with Devyani was the cause of the massacre of the royal family in Nepal. Devyani is a member of the C class Rana family via her father. Her mother is from an influential Indian royal family . She has only one sibling, a sister. The Shah family of Nepalese kings has a long history animosity with the Rana family.
The Prince reportedly shot and murdered nine members of his family before being mortally wounded himself (either by his own hand or by the Palace Guard). He was proclaimed King of Nepal whilst in a coma. He died two days later. [IMG] Pallbearers carry the body of Nepal's King Dipendra before cremation on the banks of the holy Bagmati river in Kathmandu on Monday. Dipendra died early on Monday after being wounded in a palace massacre that claimed most of his family. Dipendra's body was carried in an open army truck through streets emptied by a curfew imposed earlier in the day to quell growing public rage over the lack of an official explanation of the killings.
She fled to India immediately after the royal massacre to escape media attention. Rana married businessman Aishwarya Singh, the grandson of Indian Human Resources Minister Arjun Singh, on February 22, 2007. The ceremony witnessed by 5,000 guests included dignitaries from India and various parts of the world. Rana currently works for the United Nations Development Program.

    The story :

The Nepal Royal Killing in 2001 was one of the worst mass killings of royalty in the recent history. As alleged, the crown Prince of Nepal, Dipendra who carried out the shootings wanted to marry Devyani Rana, to which his mother queen Aishwarya was opposed.

The late crown prince, Dipendra, argued with his parents over his plans to marry Ms. Devyani Rana,[IMG] before shooting them, the official report of the two-member commission probing Nepal's royal massacre revealed today.
Prince Paras, the new crown prince, said marriage was the motive for the massacre. ``As far as I am concerned, the problem was the issue of marriage. Whatever happened I always agreed with what my brother (Dipendra) ordered.''

The report also talks about the close relationship that Dipendra and Ms. Rana enjoyed. They had been dating for seven years, according to Dipendra's aide-de-camp, Capt. R.K. Karki, who was on leave on the night of the shootings. He added that Dipendra used to bring Ms. Rana to the palace and ``the first time was probably two years ago.''

Devyani in her 20s belonged to one of Nepal's most aristocratic families having filial ties with the Royal family of Gwalior. It is alleged that Queen Aishwarya who belonged to a rival Rana clan to which Devyani owe allegiance wanted her son to marry one of her distant relative and not Devyani. The anti-India feeling in Nepal being very strong could have been another reason why Nepal Royalty never wanted to have a future queen with Indian blood. But Dipendra-Devyani relationship was not a secret. The couple had been seen dining out in Kathmandu, Australia and London.
A day before the killing, a furious row had broken out between the Crown Prince Deependra and the Queen, over his choice of bride. His father had reportedly warned Dipendra, that he might be passed over as heir if he disobeyed the Queen's wishes.

    Devyani Rana Marriage Pics!

The name Devyani Rana still generates tremendous amount of curiosity in Nepal. “Devyani sanga bihe garna napayera Dipendra le testo gareko re!” People still whisper (these days they say it loudly because of the freedom that has come with the restoration of democracy in April.) People said all kinds of things about the almost mythical-like relationship of Dipendra and Devyani. She must be damn beautiful, people used to say, otherwise why would a MAN like Dependra go after her to that extent. Who is this Devyani, people used to ask. Pahsupati ki chhori re, some used to answer. While all these questions and answers were exchanged, Devyani never appeared in front of the Nepali public to present her side of the story. She vanished. Many thought poor girl, she became the victim of the “love web” of big folks in Kathmandu. Dependra Shah is a history now though he left many questions unanswered. Even the old Devyani is a history now.

    Rajamatha Gayatri Devi!

    [IMG] [IMG]

    [IMG] [IMG]

It was a memorable tea party. The ethereal Gayatri Devi, the stunning Aishwarya Rai and the intense filmmaker J.P. Dutta all together for a very special tete-a-tete. The meeting took place in London last month to shake hands on JP's proposed biopic on the life of Gayatri Devi, the wife of Man Singh, the last ruler of Jaipur.
The Rajmata's verdict? She absolutely loved Aishwarya Rai and has given her wholehearted support to JP's proposed film.

"I can't believe I'll be playing one of the most beautiful women in the world. To get to enact Gayatri Devi, and that too in a film by J.P. Dutta ... wait, let me pinch myself," Ash bursts out laughing.
Then she spills the details of the historic meeting.
"You know, it was Gayatri Devi's birthday when we met. My mom and she share the same birthday. It was a very special day for me. JP saab and I spoke with Gayatri Devi for a while. She gave her nod almost instantaneously," she told IANS from London on telephone.
"I'm elated. But I'm also nervous. To play someone so legendary is a big responsibility. It's so strange. I'm right now playing a real-life character (the battered Sikh wife Kiranjit Ahluwalia in 'Provoked'). Then I'll go into another real-life character. But one that is completely different.
"Gayatri Devi has lived her life king-size... Or should I say, queen-sized? I hope I can do justice to her story... It is such a vast story. But I think JP saab will manage it quite well."
The jubilant J.P. Dutta adds: "My wife Bindiya (Goswami), Aishwarya and I went to wish Gayatri Devi on her birthday. She was very excited that everything was falling in place.
"I think she's very happy that Ash will be playing her. In fact, when the Rajmata and I had spoken earlier in Jaipur about a film on her life, I had mentioned Ash. She thoroughly approved of my choice."
Research work is on full-throttle. JP and his father, veteran writer-director O.P. Dutta, are in London working on the script.
"Gayatri Devi is willing to provide all the help possible. She'll introduce me to her friends, take me to the places relevant to her life. I need to get my script in place.
"Writing about her life isn't easy. I read her autobiography. And I can see I've a staggering task ahead. To recreate Gayatri Devi's life is to re-live almost the entire 20th century and a part of this century. The budget and the scope are immense.
"The Rajmata asked me how I'll manage to put her life together in one film. I told her, 'M'aam, there's a hand above guiding me. That hand has brought me this far. It'll take me through your life'. I've to get down to the script and see how much of it to get in. I'm getting an attack of panic."
J.P. Dutta, known for his penchant for epic cinema, has taken on the onus of presenting the life and times of one of the most beautiful women in the world. Says the triumphant director: "It's my good fortune that Gayatri Devi is also in London. I'll be meeting her extensively. The insight she'll offer me into her life would be invaluable. I'll also be depending on her autobiography for facts on her extremely rich and rewarding life."
But will the biopic please the supporters and followers of Gayatri Devi? JP laughs: "I'm aware making biopics in our country is a thankless task. No one is fully pleased. And there's always a controversy accompanying a true-life story.
"But in this case I'm ready to take the risk. To film a life so complete and exemplary would be an honour for any filmmaker. I'm ready for the challenge."

    Rajiv Gandhi Bomb Blast!

Hi fnds you might have been aware that today Pakisthani politician Bhutto had died in a Suicide Bomb blast.
The same happened in Our Rajiv's case.
Here are some snap shots of the incident with my lill comments.

[IMG] Rajiv Gandhi minutes before he was killed by the human bomb Subha, seen with her back to the camera and red colored flowers in her hair (also inset).

1991: Bomb kills India's former leader Rajiv Gandhi
<!-- S BO -->Rajiv Gandhi, the 46-year-old former Indian prime minister, has been assassinated.
He was campaigning for the Congress Party on the second day of voting in the world's largest democratic election when a powerful bomb, hidden in a basket of flowers, exploded killing him instantly.
At least 14 other people were also killed in the attack in the town of Sriperumbudur, about 30 miles from Madras, the capital of the southern state of Tamil Nadu.
No-one has admitted carrying out the murder but it is being blamed on Mr Gandhi's arch enemies, the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), a violent guerrilla group fighting for a separate homeland for Tamils on the island of Sri Lanka.
    End of a dynasty
Rajiv Gandhi's death has shocked the world and marks the end of the Nehru dynasty that had led India for all but five years since independence from Britain.
After his brother Sanjay was killed in an air crash in 1980, he gave up his job as an airline pilot and was elected to Sanjay's parliamentary seat.
He became prime minister after his mother, Indira Gandhi, was assassinated by her own Sikh bodyguards in 1984.
Often seen as a reluctant leader, he and his Congress Party won a record majority later that year.
He encouraged foreign investment, a freer economy and rejuvenated his own party, ridding it of his mother's unelected cronies.
After he lost the election in 1989, Rajiv Gandhi resigned.
This time, the Congress Party was expected to win the largest number of parliamentary seats - but not overall control - against the Hindu BJP Party and the Janata Dal, now split into two parties.
The campaign has been marred by sectarian violence between Hindus and Muslims in what has proved to be the most violent election in Indian history. Two hundred people have already been killed.

[IMG] the one in orange colored dress was a human bomb. Look at her ... how she is seeing her target...God!! she might be in hell now I suppose ;-) with the same looks to Yama..
