    Hey ladies,

Came across a site in which the definition for gift is given (below is the definition)

A gift or present is the transfer of something, without the need for compensation that is involved in trade. A gift is a voluntary act which does not require anything in return. By extension the term gift can refer to anything that makes the other more HAPPY or less SAD.

So i though of asking my friends that how many of you love gifts??????????whether it makes you feel happy????????

    let me answer first............

Gift is a surpirse given to us......i love surprises, so i love gifts and i feel happy....:gift

so its ur guys turn to continue.................

Hi Anitha sis (will call you this way, ma'am sounds too formal)

Ya even i love gifts. I consider each and every gift i get as treasures. They are all tokens of lots of love and affection irrespective of the price. Even a gift given to me for 10rs by a small kid is a valuable gift as its being given with pure unconditional love from down the heart.
Gift giving has got its own charm. While entering a gift shop, we carry that person's memories along with us, their likes n dislikes for half an hour or so and come out with our precious time spent for someone else.
But now a days in many cases the term 'gift' is used for bribing purposes too. Why even we dont miss to pay a visit to shops which has got huge hang outs like if you purchase this much you will get this as a gift. The fault lies within us too. Is it not true that we ask "sir, we have bought this much in your shop and you are not giving anything as gift?" It has become common today that even expensive cars, all comfort flats are all being given and received as gifts for the exchange of few sheets of paper called documents, for revealing some secrets, to shut one's mouth n so on.
Its high time that people should understand the real meaning of 'gift' and should not use the term for covering up other unfair terms.
Last but not the least, i want to add on something which i cannot forget for my life time. When i was in 11th class, a great celebration time came for all of us. It was our esteemed maths sir's birthday and we all planned to get him something which he would treasure for his life time. After a long discussion among us, we finally decided to ask our sir itself so that we buy something which he needs instead of selecting some crap. We all went and stood in front him as if we were going to buy this whole world for him n told him about what was in our minds then. Sir was listening to all of that silently n then asked us "Do you really want to give me something great, something which i would treasure and something which would make me happy n keep myself going??". We all were united in shouting, "Aha..idhathana naanga ivlo naerama sonnom, thiruppi engalukave va."
Sir smiled and replied, "Then pray for my well being. That is enough."
These words even now reflect in my ears. Only then i realized our prayers are the only priceless gift we can give others and no other things in this world which we consider to be expensive can be compared with our prayers for others.

nice thought of starting this thread.... I love gifts... I feel there are two types, expected gift and totally unexpected one....

Here i refer gift as those telephone calls which brings wishes from our dear ones during memorable occassions...

I feel very happy for surprise ones...

    Hi,
In my case I am very happy to gift others. I also like to get gifts, but always I do for others and less gifts come to me. Anyway giving is much happier than receiving.
    Luv,
    Presci
