    Hi there,

My hubby and I may relocate to Boston in a couple of months. It will be great if any of you ILs can suggest some good apartment communities in and around Westborough...my hubby's office will be in Hopkinton, MA and we're looking to live about 10-15 mins drive from his workplace.

Also, I'd like to know what the average rental of a 1bedroom 1 bath apartment would be in these areas, inclusive of heat and hot water and other utilities? We're not very particular about having Indian communities around us...just want a safe, clean, well-maintained community to live in :) ...our budget is between $1200-$1500 (inclusive of utilities if it's on the higher side of $1300 and abv)

    Look forward to your responses!

    Regards,
    Carol

I just gotta see this thread now... I guess u must have moved in already... If you have not, u can move into Fountainhead in Westborough, MA... U can also move into Park Village, that's again in Westborough, MA... Or u can try Shrewsbury Commons in Shrewsbury... Lemme know if u need to know anything else...

Ah, finally! I had given up all hopes of receiving a response :)

We haven't relocated yet...probably in the first week of November. I have heard about Fountainhead a lot from some of my DH's friends who live there. But, I prefer an apartment with a washer/dryer or atleast w/d connections...so am also looking at Flanders Hill and Residences at Westborough...any idea about these apartments? They are a bit pricey though...so I guess I'll have to weigh all pros and cons and make a decision.

Can you tell me what the average utilities expenses is for two adults? (heat, a/c, cooking gas, etc in summer and winter)...This will help me assess how much we can spare for rent.

Thanks a lot for you help! Will look up some of the other apartments you recommended as well.

    Regards,
    Carol

All these apartments that I have mentioned does not have a washer/dryer or even a connection... U have to use the common one... Does ur husband work for EMC by any chance??? Ok, if ur moving into Fountainhead u ll have to pay 1200 for a single bedroom apartment and all the a/c, heater charges and all are included in the rent itself... I guess if yr moving in winter, the rent would be a bit less... But if ur moving into Shrewsbury or Park Village, the rent for PV is a bit high n u ll have to pay the electricity charges separate, but for Shrewsbury, the rent is less n again u need to pay the electricity charges separately... The electricity charges would come upto 150-200 dollars a month(depends upon the usage)...

Hey there, thanks for the quick response. Yep, my hubby works for EMC! I will look into the apartments, although I am leaning towards spending a little more for an apt with a W/D...I am prone to skin rashes and am not keen on washing linen in a common laundry. I guess I'll have to work out the approximate monthly expenses to decide on an apt complex. Do you live in the vicinity?

I heard that EMC is the biggest employer in that locality...so not surprised to hear that your DH works there too! :) Just curious to know how you handled the winter there, after traveling from Chennai? Am kinda apprehensive about it coz I can't stand cold weather.

Have you been in Shrewsbury for a long time? Is EMC a bit far from Marlborough or Shrewsbury? The reason I ask is that some of his colleagues are advising him to find an apartment in Westborough or within 6-8 miles of Hopkinton as driving in winter can be difficult. They also say there are a lot of shopping centers in this area. But I find apartments in Westborough to be a bit expensive than say, Marlborough. Sorry for the zillion questions! :)

    Carol
