    Dear Chithra
You know the importance of a pinch of salt than anyone else in IL. A cookery columnist need not be a good cook!:biggrin2:
Are you really drafting a list of sins? Fresh ones for use by future generations? You can sign it as Unam being the reverse of Manu who prescribed a list of virtues to follow!
Your harmless sins must be like those eatables specially made for diabetics!
Attitudes are always a problem but what is an attitude problem?

Precisely AC. If it is harmless, why call it a sin? Maybe it is a diluted virtue!
I am as eagerly waiting for the list as you. I am sure it's going to be a reference book for future generations

    Dear Leelal
We have heard of the harmful and harmless sins from the seniormost member. You now talk of eastern and western sins. Kamalji is gearing up to produce a formidable list. But what you say makes a lot of sense. Actions must relate to age. If we did not perform an act relevant to a particular age, there is no way we can rewind and perform it now. It will be like my talking in mazhalai! Imagine me going round and deflating cycle tubes now!
I consider people who have gone through their academic career without falling in love at least once ( :biggrin2: ) as people going round Brindavan with their eyes shut!

    Dear Kamla
In making people feel important and wanted, there is no one to equal you. You are truly peerless in that category!
I give you my solemn assurance that I have found my home finally in IL. I love writing and interacting with the delightful crowd here. All my search for greener pastures in the past have only pushed me in the wilderness and I have no further desire to look for them elsewhere!
If virtues can be relative, it is only natural that sins too should enjoy that privilege! When someone asked the Paramacharya if Vaali coveting his brother's wife would not amount to defiance of Yuga Dharma. The Sage replied that Vaali for all his human attributes still belonged to the lower kingdom of animals and therefore, his actions should not be judged against a human scale of virtues and vices. In other words, they are relative even from species to species.
Reading the Obituary column is like applying Vibhuthi on the forehead. Both are meant to keep reminding us of our utter mortality in order that we are kept in due bounds all the time!

    Dear Sri,
    For your writing
You know the importance of a pinch of salt than anyone else in IL. A cookery columnist need not be a good cook![IMG]
I leave you"scot free" because all said & done, you are a Madurai Mappilai like Vish.
Illavittal pitiththa kaattil koNtupoy vittiruppaen ! You would have had it !

My dear friend, tasty vadai can be made without salt ! Freshly made Kalkandu Vadais will be delivered at your place, on request !

You are very back-dated with recipes if you think
    eatables specially made for diabetics!
    are less tasty !
Read this FB received by me for my diabetic diet recipe, this morning
    Dear chithra,
Oats idli ! superb, superb, superb, just now had hot hot idli with spicy chutney. I think for the dieters its a boon to get wonderful recipes from ur treasure.

So my harmmless sin list will also be
    superb, superb, superb,

I wonder if I should send you the list at all, on second thoughts.I just thought you could derive some guilt free enjoyment, inspite of sinning - you seem to be thinking of giving me Reverse Names to tease me ! Why take all effort ?

Jokes apart, I loved best your statement to Kamla

Time & again, you prove your versatality with words - I salute you, Sri.
    Love,
    Chithra.

    Cheeniyakins,

Thanks for a warm response to my post. Mea culpa yet again! I think I write too long in reply to your posts/all posts. Somehow, never got to practising 'brevity is the soul of wit'.

Nice to read that sin is not only geographically bound but also time bound; from your reference to lust. What with the likes of John Abraham and Tiger Woods doing rounds, lust must be the most virtuous sin these days!

But just think, sinning has become such a profitable market for organised religion. With craving indulgences, nerthikadans, even zakath to an extent- how often do we even act in virtue if not to atone/compensate for a sin??

Loving all responses here, AC has a pithy way of saying things.

    regards
    Vidya

    Dear Chithra
I want this to go on record that I am enjoying myself to the hilt after joining IL. Mercifully I dont have to look to sinning for enjoyment anymore!
Did your friend get stuck while saying 'superb' because her tongue got stuck with the oats iddly? Why did she have to repeat it thrice as an auctioneer?
While on the subject of iddly, I guess everything grindable into a thick paste can be made as iddlies. Please correct me if I am wrong.

    Dear Vidya
Brevity used to be the soul of wit once upon a time when there were not many words in the vocabulary. But with newer and newer words and expressions finding their place in the language like 'far from being gruntled', it is really a crime to practise brevity any more. So I beseech you to continue saying what you want to say in as many words as possible!
I cant agree with you more on the economics of religion which operates solely on the fulcrum of sinning!

    Dear Cheeniya sir ,
On seeing the title , I started reading ur post with a serious ( rather heavy ) mood . But you just made me roll in laughter until I finished it !
Its quite natural that when we get ‘ marana bhayam ‘, we repent for our sins & want to become a flawless human being ! . If we really put our mind to it , we are sure to attain that stage !
You don’t have to feel much for the sins you have made so far -because they can easily be blamed as ‘ paruvakkolaaru ‘ ! But a few sins ( you have mentioned ) – eventhough they too are quite common - are not easy for me to digest . Kindly excuse me for poining out them :

    • "Telling every classmate(F) that no one affected me as much as she did " ( like ‘ naan avanillai ‘ Gemini ganesh ! )
    • " Spending long hours in clubs and reaching home after my kids had gone to bed " - ( how they would have longed to see their dear dad )
    • Plucking the flowers from my neighbor’s garden for doing pooja – ( in forties … you did it ? Really its unbelievable , sir ! ) ( but … don’t worry sir – your image can never be lowered by any confession made by you ! You are a person to be admired & respected by all the Ilites - the whole family of our IL ! )
    • All your replies were enjoyable – especially your reply to Leelal was very funny :
    • " Actions must relate to age. If we did not perform an act relevant to a particular age, there is no way we can rewind and perform it now. It will be like my talking in mazhalai! Imagine me going round and deflating cycle tubes now!

    • And I would like to finish my fb with one more nice proof for your excellent sense of humour . Your reply to chithra : "Are you really drafting a list of sins? Fresh ones for use by future generations? You can sign it as Unam being the reverse of Manu who prescribed a list of virtues to follow! “ ! ! :whistle
    • With high regards ,
    • Indhu .

    Dear Indhu
Gemini Ganesh went beyond just saying it to his girl friends but I stopped only with saying it and boosting their ego! Like PG Wodehouse, I am also adept in pleasing only grown-ups but not children. So I guess they didn't miss much by my coming home late. As regards flowers and poojas, my dad died when I was just 32 and the act of daily pooja was just thrust on me!
And thanks a ton for all the good things you keep saying about my posts!
    Sri
