We all come across stupid dialogues/scenes in serials. There was this one which I saw yesterday on Sun TV. The blackmailer tells a lady on phone 'Come over with the money'. The lady asks 'where'.

Now comes the comedy. The blackmailer says ' Porur pakkathula or maamaram iruku. Adhuku pakkathula or ottu veedu iruku. Ange vaa'. For those who don't know tamil, it means 'There is a mango tree near Porur (Porur is an area in Chennai). There is a tiled house near the tree. Come over to that House'. What a great way to tell an address/location?

I thought that the lady in the serial would burst out laughing. Instead, she says "I'll come over immediately'. And that was more comical.

Friends, can you also share such dialogues/scenes which makes serious situations, a comedy. And well, why does this happen so often in serials?

    Regards,
    Nandhita

Once upon a time, I used to watch Kolangal and other serials on Sun TV. But even Kolangal was having such silly dialogues, I stopped watching Tamil serials altogether.
In Kolangal, it was always 'nee/unna thottu thalikattina pondatti/purushan' even when Abhi and her hubby were legally divorced.
Another character would marry another girl to her hubby just because she saw them lying on the bed together (hubby was drunk and unconscious and nothing had happened between them.
Elder sister would make all things possible to marry her younger sister to her BIL, even though he was much married.
And I wish the dialogue writers wrote some new dialogues in place of the old and sour ones. Example-
    1. patthu matham chumanthu pethen
    2.Unna pethu valarthu aalakki
    3. Thottu thali kattina purushan
    4.Thottu thali kattina pondatti
    5. Uyirukku uyiraka kaadhalikkiren
These are some which come to my mind.
Another thing which irks me is that men tie a manjal thread on the neck of aother woman even when they are very much married at the blink of an eye lid.I do not know how they could create such scenes repeatedly.

While reading your post, for almost every line of yours, some scene that I had seen either in kolangal or metti oli or some other serial flashed in my mind. And considering that I am not a serial watcher, but do it once in a while for time pass, I can imagine that there may be many more comical/irrritating situations for those who watch regularly.

I remember, once my husband was watching a lousy action movie. When I asked him why he was wasting his time, he replied that the movie was a good comedy and made him laugh. I guess that those watching the cry cry serials too may be having lots of stupid situations in between that would make them laugh. Is this called 'mixing comedy in main storyline'?

    Hi nandhitha
I too come across sooooo many silly and stupid dialogues in movies as well as serials..
And the most common and irritating dialogue and the scene will be pazhivaangum scenes(taking the revenge)
where the char will be saying"naan unnai pazhi vaangama vida matten"
"nee epdi sandhoshama irukka nu parkaren"

    Cheers
    Ramya

Oh Yes, Ramya! So often repeated and sounding stupid.

Another one situation I just remembered goes like this. The villain plans out a trap for the hero/heroine. In normal life, one would not let out the secret and wait for the victim to fall in that trap. But in serials, the villain himself would call up or even visit the hero/heroine and appraise him of his plans!!!

And then say 'Ini nee thappika mudiyadhu'.

Won't the villain realise that he is actually acting as a source of information for the hero/heroine. He has all the intelligence to do all the meticulous planning and lay the trap, and then is stupid enough to inform that to his victim beforehand.

Nice thread .I really feel irritated on hearing such dialogues not only from serials, even from dubbed english movies which are telecasted on vijay tv.ex harry potter movies..

In anandham serial ,recently actress lakshmi(jamuna in serial) who is acting as Chinna pechi (d/o sankara pandian). She meets sripriya .she replies to sripriya that"actual aa enakku manasu seriilai".as if mood upset is some fact or information to be shared.

In the same serial suganya was talking to RK's family doctor(RK is suganya's father-in-law).Actually she is picturised as a famous business-women.She speaks english which are not spoke by even kids .she says"actual a edhavudhu problem na RK mama does not tell us.Edhuvumey solla maattar".It was irritating.

    Hi

Now i rembr one, in asatha povathu yaaru, all contestants give a welcome note. In that they address madan bob and chitti bob as "comedy jambavans". As such other than clapping and laughing, complimenting are they making any comedy contribution from their part, is the title justified for both the bobs??

    Dear Nandhita ma'am

A fun filled thread. I was in splits reading yours and others posts here..
Its true that serials are more of such crap dialogue..I don't watch serials that much. But i am helpless to hear such nonsense while fiddling with the remote in search of a good program.
You all have mentioned the ones which frequent..i would like to add one more which i remember now..

" Unna ellar kitta irundhum pirichu nadu theruvula nikka vaikkala, en paeru.......illa"

    Regards
    Meena
