    Hi friends,

I want to thank chitvish mam for her wonderful pictures of MW vessels and jiffy cooking methods in Modern MW cooking thread.
Thanks to her thread am learning to utilise MW fully.
I still fear to boil milk or soup in MW because of the impact of a mail i received long ago about the splashing of super heated water over the face of a young guy leaving high degree burns.:eek:mg:
But yes as i came to know that frequent stirring of the food or liquid (every 2 mins) results in even cooking and also prevent such accidents.:iagree

I want you to visit Myths and facts about MW and add your My 2cents there.

Also please use this thread to give your valuable tips and safety precautions in using MW ovens.
What are all the fears you had when you first started using MW ?

What is the new thing you learned from your experience in MW usage?

    Tweety,

Usually when I start heating something in the microwave, I set the timings. And if I see it boiling or bubbling over, I turn the timing knob to zero finishing the heating. My maid tells me that this is a wrong practise which will cause the microwave to damage itself soon. The right procedure is to turn off th main switch, leaving the timer knob where it is.

This of course means, that the next time we switch on the main, the microwave will start immediately. Allow it to finish the time and then set new time.

Disclaimer: Would request members to check facts before doing this at home.

    regards
    Vidya

    Hi Vidya,
    Thanx for stepping in.
As you said there is a possibility of MW running the leftover time the next time we start.
I think your manual would have given the instruction for the unused timings or settings. Isn't there a clear button for clearing the set time or for cancelling program?
In mine i have touch keys only. There is a stop/clear button. So once i finish cooking/heating i press that key twice to stop and clear the timing set.
Also in the manual it is instructed to press Clear before starting the oven.
Thanks again for sharing your exp. with the electronic wonder.
