    Hi Mom2Be,

A big heartfelt Congrats to you!!! :) I'm sure you must be very happy and excited at this big news in your life....:)

    Some thoughts-
    1) Keep taking your prenatal vitamins
    2) Start exercising regularly (exercise shd be moderate in nature. Walking is the best form of exercise during pregnancy. 30 minutes in a day is recommended)
    3) Eat healthy. At least 1200 mg of calcium a day - I used to drink 2 glasses of milk and several yogurts/smoothies a day. Eat lots of fruits, veggies...about 50 mg of protein a day. Start looking at the ingredients of each food product that you buy so that you make sure you get your daily intake regularly.
    4) Keep your normal routine. If you are working, it would be good to go to office every day...
    5) Buy a good pregnancy book and go through it for detailed info ( I liked the Pregnancy Bible).
    6) Near the last trimester, you can go and join some baby and labor classes..they provide a ton of info and I personally found it very useful. If possible, go with your husband...

Take care and congrats once again!!

    love,
    Aarushi

    Hi,

    congrats on your pregnancy.
Till three months as they say do not lift anything more than 2 gallons of milk. Thats the max weight safely you can lift.

Do go through this link posted by one of IL members. It is very useful:

    http://www.indusladies.com/forums/i-m-pregnant/16973-useful-info-for-pregnant-woman.html

Also from this forum I had found one list of diets for vegetarian moms-to-be. If you are a vegetarian, you can search through the threads. I have also attached the word document of the contents that was posted.
    Its quite an useful one.

    Dear Aarushi, Ptamil2007, Kanaka, :thankyou2:

Thanks a ton! Yes i am very excited, but when people wish the excitement raises even more. I was very happy to read your replies.

Aarushi, thank you so much for the tips.
Ptamil2007, your links are very good. The word DOC on diet is just fabulous. Thank you so much.
Kanaka, thanks for your wishes too.

    I have the foll doubts:
    1) Can i excercise ( walk ) on the threadmill daily ? IF so, then what speed should i maintain and what elevation ?
    2) In which month does the baby understand, what we speak, or what music we listen etc ?
    3) Do suggest me some good mythological books, devotional songs, other books, etc. And advice me on when it would be most effective on the baby.
    4) I havnt revealed my pregnancy to any one so far except my neighbours. Not even my MOM. was thinking i will inform to all once i complete my 1st trimester. Is it right, or should i tell all now itself. ( Like my parents, in-laws ).
    5) I was going thro some YOGA dvd's, but not sure which one to buy, do lemme know if you have any info.
    6) Right now, i am getting severe pain in my lower body. I coundnt sleep the whole night yesterday. And the interesting part is that, i get severe cramps, which go down to my feet, everyday at midnight 12 to 1. I wanna know, why is this happening each day, at the same time. I was scared if something evil might be doing something, etc etc.
    7) My breasts are heavy now, and i dont fit into my present BRA. Would you tell me, what kinda bra i should take ? And how to determine the size of the bra ( like, a size bigger both for the cups and the chest or how ).
    8) Also tell me what other precautions should i take hence forth. I will keep the weight lifting in mind, as you suggested.

I know, i might have asked too many Q's, but i hope you all will understand. This is my 1st time pregnancy, and so i am all confused and excited and waiting to know more and more... ....

Thanks for your valuable time and patience and your treasure like advice..
    Waiting to hear.....

    Love & Regards,
    MOM 2 BE :spin:spin

    Dear mom 2b
    congrats
As for the precautions already u have got good no of them .But in the intial 3 months u may feel like nauseating in the morning or actual vomitings to avoid this eat small but frequent meals not very spicy or heavy .This is a natural response in many due to changing hormonal levels & is nothing alarming ,take it in stride if u have any nausea.if needed ur doctor can prescribe some drugs which are safe to be taken.
Also folic acid which is a vitamin is needed for proper growth in first months & afterwords calcium & iron suppliment if needed.
In early period u may have some burning & frequency to visit washrooms ,take lots of water to avoid it . This is also physiological.
    Keep personal hygene optimum .
    Dont lift wts .
As for exercise only mild form with permission of ur doctor that is walking or simple deep breathing exercises.
Ur breast may feel engorged . wear a bit loose comfortable cloths & inners.
Try to avoid physical relation with ur DH for first 8- 10 wks.
After detection of pregnancy a first visit to ur gynec is required in first few weeks even if u feel no complaints just for a preliminary checkup.
Dont take any medication without consultation of doctor specially antibiotices like tetracyclene ,sulpha drugs ,alcohal & many more.
Try to avoid passive smoking also if ur DH smoke.
Remain cool & happy ,take w alks ,listen to good music.
    Best of luck

    Hi mom2be,

Never mind for the number of questions. We all share what we know of. This is my first pregnancy and I have been doing forum searching a lot :)
    So any questions just ask.
As Jayshree already pointed out, I would advise to go low on the heavy exercise. Walking is really good and is recommended also (which I dont do tsk)

But yes, do go for walks regularly.
If you are nauseas, eat in small quantities.

The baby will start hearing after 23 weeks or so. By 28 weeks, it can open its eyes. By 30 weeks it can feel pain, it can dream.

I would also recommend you to visit this site. I personally found it very informative week by week.

    You are 30 weeks pregnant.

click on the appropriate week to know whats going in your body week by week.

Also in this forum, under the section there is one file as 'Inthewomb.pps' posted by one of our members. Do surely have a look at it. Its quite helpful.

You can inform your parents and in-laws about your pregnancy, but to others you can wait till 3 months because after 12 weeks only, they say its safe.

Do listen to garbarakshambikai songs and keep one rupee before god praying to goddess garbarakshambikai for your and baby's good health and safe delivery.

Every week, you will feel something different to complain about :hatsoff.
So, its all a different feeling altogether.
I am in 30 weeks and I do get cramps, that too it comes only when we are in deep sleep to disturb the sleep. :)
    Theres nothing to worry about.
do start some multivitamin tablets. From where are you, in India or abroad? It depends a lot on how you take care according to the place you are in.

    Take care

    Hi Mom2Be,

Have you met your ob/gyn doctor yet? Since everybody's body is different, it would be best to check with your doctor first.

If you are otherwise a normal healthy, active adult, then walking on treadmill should be fine. I used to use 2-3 speed and 2 % elevation till the due date...But as I said, do not take these numbers blindly. Go and check with your doctor.

Drink lots of water. For nausea you can drink ginger ale or eat ginger snap biscuits...dried cranberries helped me a lot for some reason...

Whenever you feel tired, go and take some rest...put up your feet on a little raised platform or stool while sitting. Sometimes that relieves stress...

Your body will be going through many changes right now...go and buy some comfortable clothes if the current ones are getting tight...

You could tell your mom and in-laws if you want...with others, I would wait a little bit...

take care and all the very best once again!!

    love,
    Aarushi

    Dear Jaishree, Ptamil, Aarushi,

Thanks again, soooooooooo much. I will keep all your advices in mind and follow them. Plz read the below, I have replied to each of you.

Jaishree, u r right, I should not do any form of exercise without Dr’s advice. Yesterday just tried the treadmill for 13 mins, on 1.7 speed and was all tired. I was also scared after that. Yeah…. Physical relation with my husband, I had read about this some where and told my husband the very 1st day the home test was +ve and since then he is like, ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Myyyyyyyyyyy Goddddddddddddd. :crazy
He says you are two now, what about me.

Ptamil, HEARTY congratulations to you too!!!!!!!!! So nice to know you are into the journey too……. I am not feeling any morning sickness symptoms etc as for now. Except for leg, back, tummy, cramps and severe pain. At times I cannot sit nor sleep. And since I am lying down a lot these days, my left leg bone hurts me, coz of sleeping on that side.
Can we apply heat pack or corn bag heated in the microwave for back pain ?
I am aware that we should not use it for the tummy. Also I am taking moderate water bath, though I crave to stand in the tub for long hours, with hot shower, but am avoiding it.
And you are right, the cramps are especially at nights…..And urination, don’t ask, feels like my bath room has become my room. Yeah I started with my Dr prescribed Prenatal since yesterday.

Aarushi, No I havnt met the Dr so far. My blood test was done in a diagnostic center and the report went to the Dr’s office and the nurse confirmed my pregnancy and has given appointments for the 10th week. I will have my 1st Sonogram then. :wow
Your stool idea is working fabulous for me. It relieves me of so much pain..

Thanks to all of you again…. And you all too take very good care.

    Love & Regards.
