    Dear IL'ites,

I had turmeric and kumkum stains all over my creamish white pattu saree i wore for my wedding 2 yrs ago. But i recently came to know that my mil didnt get it dry cleaned immediately and the stains are looking pretty bad:drowning.I thought of getting some nice work done on the saree.I will be travelling to india this month,so i was wondering if i could get those dried up stains removed at a dry cleaner after such a long time:bonk

Please share ur thoughts on this.....thnx

Try Gonzo on the stain...very safe and will take out turmeric but you have to apply enough until it neutralizes the color. Gonzo is sold in detergent aisly of grocery store.

Hi I in fact spoiled my cream with red border silk saree worth Rs. 6700/ recently as I forgot to wash them immediately and the red border spread over the body in a haphazard manner, so I asked my dear sister in law at Anna nagar, Chennai [who always comes to my rescue] to get it printed at the blotches but the printer and dyer said a firm no' due to the widespread blotches.

The solution I turned the cream body into green and the red border looks the same , last year when I wore the cream one everyone said it was a nice color and this year when i wore the green one they thought it was new one and it took everyone by surprise.

That's the only way, anyhow it all depends on the stains and the printer fellow.

Hey happygolucky, i dunno about any home remedy but i think ther are couple of good products available in the market which are good at stain removal. I think you should try vanish, its good...check out for more products also :)

If it is a white top, i would suggest Rin Ala. It is stronger than vanish and you can be sure that the stains will be gone. But be careful as this is cannot be used on delicate materials like silk.

I regularly use vanish for washing white clothes but it doesnt work so well for stubborn stains.
