you are most welcome, Lakshmi. There is no official term. I just coined the term to explain the phenomenon. I am happy that you are aware of similar happenings.

Your writing is a great piece of advice. I am a person who either loves or hates...Your below words is making me to mould myself to become better....I also read many of your serial stories at a stretch and loved each of them...

It was a cold winter night in a very dense forest. A group of hedgehogs (porcupines) cuddled closer to beat the shivering cold. As they became closer and closer the pines/thorns in the animals’ bodies hurt others. The pain forced them to move apart. But then the biting cold compelled them to move closer. After repeating the process for a while the porcupines were at such a distance from each other that they were near enough to get the body heat of other animals and were far enough to avoid the pin(e)-pricks. That’s precisely the art of human relationships is all about. If there is no relationship at all we would suffer from the chill of loneliness and pointlessness, and if we are too close we would suffer from the ego-pin-pricks of other people. The idea is to maintain the correct distance.

Thanks a lot, happy person. Hats off to you for choosing such a positive user ID while there are many who have chosen IDs with negative implications.
Glad that this piece of writing had an effect on you.
At present I am writing a serial The Lovers Park in Blog Format. When you have time have a look at it.

    Sir,

I am a great fan of your writings and have been a silent reader most of the time. But this article is really good, each and every example simply conveys what each of us face in our day to day life.

I like the child part where you said, listing the sacrifices distances the child.. it is really true.. and i know u are a great father to your daughter and want to be her hero all the time..

i feel the same kind of affection with my parents and my dad is my hero.. the noblest person i have seen on earth who has taught me and is still teaching me all the good things in life, and not to forget my mother who constantly ensures that am in the right path... I know this is quite irrelevant to this blog.. but wanted to convey them, which was pending for a long time from your other posts...

keep blessing us with your wonderful writings

    Vidu,
thanks. Happy to know that you are a silent reader of my writings. I have a theory that there is no difference between an article and a short story. I wrote this as an article in English. In Tamil I wrote this as a short story Unarvukalum Parisukalum. That was selected by Vikatan as a Muthiraikkathai and I was given Rs. 5000 for that.

I don't know whether I am a great hero to my daughter. But I know that now she treats me like her friend. And recently when I went to chennai I took her out for a dinner. And we had a really nice time gossiping about every one, inside the family and out.
I am moved by the devotion you have for your parents. You are really blessed and your parents, lucky.
    love,
    sridhar

Am not able to pen down anything after reading this post.Just want to praise you for this wonderful creation and now i feel like am enjoying the greatest gifts in the world "the ability to read" or 'Reading'..

Excellent writeup and the example of porcupines is really so apt!

So many end up in pseudo relations after gifting things which they could not afford emotionally!

Very very nice article and it made my day!
