    Hello Friends,

Till what age kids should be allowed to sleep with parents?

As i know in western countries, they start when child is born, and so kids get used to it when they grow up.

But in India, we feel that kids need us even at night time...and affection, closeness...and all.

    Please suggest.

    hi,
it depends upon your comfort level.personally,i feel it really helps in bonding with kid to let him sleep with you.i let my son sleep till he was 6 & now he sleeps alone.........but still comes to our bed sometimes specially on weekends .........i don't mind.i guess 5 yrs is good age to let kids sleep alone.

With my goddaughter, she was sleeping with her parents until 5 and they were trying and trying to get her to sleep in her own bed and in her own room. Last summer when I went up to see them, they put me in her room and she wanted to sleep in there so they put a mattress on the floor (she is active sleeper and can roll off the bed) and she slept in there with me. When I left she decided to stay in there on her own and that was that. OP: you might try some shifting around and see if your kid decides to go on his own. Maybe have a little friend over for a sleep over or whatever.

Someone told me that when an immigrant holding a green card buys a house in the US, it must be ensured that the children of the family have separate rooms. Is this correct?

    Hi All,

I am facing a similar situation..MY DD is 1.5yrs old and sleeps with us.If i put her inside the crib she sleeps for 1/2 and hr and then gets up crying.I have to again replace her on our bed which is next to crib. she then continuous her sleep peacefully.
At night i dont mind her sleeping with us.But it becomes difficult during the day time. I put her on our bed, make her sleep and then shift her into the crib. She gets up in 30mins crying and i have to put her back to my bed and be with her(cant leave her alone in bed since she rolls over) until she wakes up..this is distrupting my household wrk.

Please...please suggest some ideas to make her sleep inside the crib.

No, its not true....another strange rumor about Americans that is untrue. I will add though that after purchase of a house there are zoning laws about how many unrelated people can live there but this has nothing to do with families. It is to keep from residential communities having a house full of drug addicts or migrants with no good connection to the neighborhood. Just so you know, there are many American families where siblings share a bedroom.

    Nethrumom,
Talk to your DD before taking her to sleep that you need to work, household work is needed to keep home clean and so....
So she should sleep and mom will stay nearly only. She doesn't have to worry.
