Last week, it was another usual work day. I was pulling out of our neighborhood around 7.15am. Just as I am about to turn into the main road, I look ahead at the horizon. The sun has just come up, the horizon still very orange in color. Just ahead of where I was is a stable - the horses were prancing in the morning sun - they were silhouetted against the morning sky. It was a breathtaking sight. I continued on my drive to work. All along the way, I continued to marvel at natures beauty - the orange and yellow leaves just glistened like gold and amber with the sunlight on them! Fall is my favorite time of the year - I am in awe at how beautiful everything is. There is so much beauty around us - did you stop to smell the rose today?

    Dear Shobanag,

Your description of the scenary is very interesting. It must have been a breath taking view. I wish you had taken a snap of it and shared it here.

Here at Gaithersburg in our NIST campus, on the way to my lab. there are beautiful lush green meadows, a lake and plenty of deers, swans and birds. Ofcourse, the deers are a menace for driving. But, when they go jumping on the meadows it is a beautiful sight. One of these days, I shall take a snap and post it here.

    Hi,

I am reminded of the poem Leisure, that I read when at High school.
I live in Helsinki,Finland. It is a land of thousand lakes, and a good place to live.Since the day I came here, I have enjoyed nature....
It gets very cold here in winters, but it is beautiful once the snow falls and covers the entire place. It is just one of those sights that I want everyone to experience....

People here love to live with the nature. They have a great work-life balance. They take long vaccations and live in summer cottages, that are away from city. They pick berries,go fishing, and just go ack to those golden old days.
I just wish it were like this everywhere.

Alas, with busy schedules and workload, sometimes people have no time to stand and stare......

    Regards,
    Yamuna.

    Dear Shobana
You have described the beauty of the morning so very well. So eloquent. In the morning sunshine and the light sun and the dew everything would look that much more breathtaking. Did you notice how it stayed with you a little longer. I am taking the time now to see the changing colors in all our trees. Most unfortunately its happening tooooo fast since because of the winds the leaves are falling so rapidly.
I make it a point to stop and smell the roses more so possible because I have the time. I know thats always not possible for people rushing to work or caught up with so much to do. But it is so uplifting to stop and see and smell and get in touch with nature Enjoyed your thread please keep bringing so much more...

    Dear Shobana,

Lovely post. Yes i too stop and take my hearts fill of the beauty that God and Nature throws at us. Living in a valley , I love the way, the clouds lift up over the hills every morning , and sunlight filters through them , all orange and yellow, the whole scene is too beautiful for words. I love the colours on the sky during dusk, gods own slide show to speak, the colours ranging from light blue to dark orange and purple , its amazing.... Where i live, i peek out the window every morning to look at the hills outside. I just get reminded of the song " The Hills are alive..."""
Yes in this busy fast paced world. we do benefit a lot if we stop and smell the roses .....

Your description of nature is very very exciting, Shobana!
I too love nature and observe it as i pick up my son from school.
We see deer family during those days in our backyard.
It is only in fall the color change is marvellous and spring is maravellous in its own way.

    Hey Shobhana,
sounds like a really scenic and beautiful morning commute. Me, sometimes I think I have way too much time to smell the roses. I wish sometimes life were soo busy I would forget to eat or leave the milk in the cabinet etc. THe perils of a stay at home mom!!

So happy to read that all of you have your own daily rituals in observing nature around us. I too wish I had a camera that day! I may have to start keeping it in my glove compartment!

TDU - your comment about deer is so true. I sometimes pass deer crossing the road and am very careful. I was told that usually when you one deer crossing the road, it is usually followed by some more - and sure enough, I have seen a couple go by. They can do real damage to your vehicle and hurt themselves as well.

Winter has its own beauty which I love. I am probably belong to a smaller group of folks who actually enjoys winter!

    Thanks to all for sharing!

    Dear Shobanag,

Thant was a nice description.... Though I dont know much about the US... It reminds me of my audit days and my days in Coonoor... The early morning sun rise with the misty climate and fresh greenary all around you.... It used to be beautiful.... I always enjoy that greenery and travelling with some nice songs from the sterio.... It is great.... I love those conditions...

Once during Audit, one evening I was telling one of the plantation supervisor... What a nice climate, you all are lucky... His immediate response was... You are here for few days only, so you feel like that... We are here everday, we know how difficult it is... That day I stopped telling people about the natural beauty... It needs a special likeing to appreciate the natural beauty.... I was in Coonoor for one full year, with so much rains/mudslides etc... Always I enjoyed... When I come out in the mist and walk through the fields... I felt very happy...

Now in Muscat, it is real opposite... Hot/hotter/hottest... But again it also has some real bauties... The high barren mountains... sorrounded.... When I travel to the interiors, early in the morning, driving inbetween the mountains.... sipping coffee, listening music, shan sitting next and kids in the back... it is a great feeling.... I enjoy a lot....

Nice to see that there are so many people enjoying the early morning drive and natural beauty....

    Dear Shobana
Enjoyed your post.It must have been breath taking.I love nature. As I go for morning walks in the park here in Abudhabi,I really enjoy. The dew on the grass, and plants, sparrows, mynahs and pigeons pecking at food bits on the lawn and chirping away to glory.Last week it was more beautiful as thick fog descended on the park.God's creations are truely magnificient.I forgot mention two lovely pure white pigeons. My they really looked lovely.Nature is there for us to enjoy...........
