    HI all

My daughter is 3 years old. She started to suck her thumb when she was an infant. She used to suck her thumb always but now she sucks her thumb only when she is sleepy. I am not able to stop her till now. I have tried applying bitter neem oil and leaf paste. I have also tried band aid. But she just wouldnt stop sucking her thumb. I am really afraid whether her teeth will come out in front. Ladies please help me and suggest me as to how i can make her stop sucking her thumb.

    regards
    Rakshantha

Hey ,I used to do the same till i was 3 yrs old. My parents told me they put a stop to it by tying a cloth around my thumb. Once they did it and i didnt like the taste and stopped it. My teeth didnt come out front. Although my front upper 2 teeth are slightly overlapped. Try it it might work.

Have you tried giving a soft toy for your child to cuddle to when she is sleeping?

In my baby's case, I used to use a pacifier..so instead of sucking her thumb, she sucked her pacifier...then when she turned 1 yr old, we slowly started giving her the pacifier less and less. Within a couple of weeks, she could sleep without her paci...

However, we had to give her a soft toy when she went to sleep...as she would hold onto it for comfort...

I also put a drop of my perfume in the corner of her crib...she gets comforted by it and gets up less in the nights...I guess she associates it with me and sleeps better.

These are the things that helped me...
