    Yaadon Ki Baraat

Day before night was watching Yaadon Ki Baraat, and enjoying all the antics of the actors.Dharmendra was at his best with, Kutte ,Kamine,Teri boti boti karke kutoon ko Khilaaoonga ( I did not know Dogs eat Human Meat, though i know they bite humans sometimes and draw blood ).He had a wig on, and had just met R O wali Hema Malini, who had not become a Basanti yet.And i suppose Sunny Doel was in his chaddis then, or rather Lux undies.

Seeing this movie i was reminded of strange coincidences. This movie was copied from the English movie " Death Rides a Horse",starring John Phillip Law,a 1967 movie, where the hero's parents are gunned down in front of his eyes, and 15 years later he starts hunting for his parent's killers.Every night he dreams of of a guy on a horse, which rears up, with the killer sitting on the horse, and a braclet hanging from his wrist.

Now both Zanjeer and Yadoon ki Baraat were inspired as they say from this same movie " Death rides a horse".Nasir Hussain just added the masala of the 3 brothers seperating in childhood, and other masalas of Neetu Singh Dance No.

Both the movies were written by Salim Javed. How could they sell the same copy to 2 different producers and both the movies releasing in 1973, and both beings hits.Ingenious guys these two.

Both had Ajit as the villian.I did not know Ajit liked to kill parents of little children.
And another common factor was Satyen Kappu, the actor.

Trivia - Dharmendra had the story rights for Zanjeer for many years, and he wanted to produce and act in the movie, but he was the superstar those days, and did not find the time.Prakash Mehra persuaded him to part with the story, and the rest is history.

Prakash Mehra should not have drunk so much really. What was the need for buying the story, when the story was copied from an English movie, and he could have copied the orignal himself, rather than wasting money buying a second hand story.Did not Prakash Mehra successfully copy the English movie The Party into Namak Halal, without paying anybody a penny.

Anyway here's wishing everyone a very happy Diwali,God bless everyone.Have a drink on me please, and send me the Bill on Monday.I will pay each and everyone, provided I remember my promise.Take care.Ciao.

    Dear kamalji,

Nice interesting article on Yaadon Ki Bharaat. This movie had a great influence on all other language movies and in Tamil many movies have come using the same theme of separated people singing the familiar song. In Hindi also if I am correct, movies like Mukadar ka Sikandar has a similar theme.

Wish you a very happy and sober Diwali. Here is my bill and to remind you I am singing 'Yadon ki Baarat.....'.:-D

    Regards,

    TDU

    Kamalji,

Your name should be Kamaalji! What great posts around IL. I read all, but first time am replying. Abt Y ki B, I was thinking abt it recently. One of the brothers was played by a new comer (then) actor. Aziz, Anwar----He could also sing, I think he sang one of the popular songs in the movie. Well, after sinking into oblivion, he is back into making a music album. Seeing that I felt, I too ahve aged and is time for a come-back. Thanks for the promise of a drink. After all the Diwali mithais, the only drink most welcome is jal-jeera.

    Happy Diwali!

    Sunkan,

Well i was in mumbai, and used to see a lot of shootings on Worli Sea Face, where i used to stay.I stayed on the 13th floor, where my family still stays, and we used to see shootings and lights and i used to run down with frineds and go watch the shootings.

Some shootings i have seen are

    1) Rajesh Khaanna - Sharmila Tagore - Movie Raja Rani - the song , Main ek Chor, tu meri Rani, main ek chor - Where Rajesh is carrying a parrot in a cage.I got so bored it went on for 3 days , shooting just one line of the song

    2) Seeta aur Geeta - Where Dharmendra and Hema perform their street stunts on the rope.I was in the crowd when the shooting was going on but never saw myself on screen.

I was fond of reading filmi news, not so much now. These days actors change their partners faster than they change clothes, and i am old, cant keep track of them these days.

Thanks fior yr great comments, u have made my Diwali special Sunkan.Happy Diwali to u and yr family,God bless u.Regards.kamal

    Dear Kamalji,

I never thought you will be a cine bizz... With so much info on movies and the background... Great...

Based on this, there was a MGR movie in tamil, which was a very big hit... I love the song "Yadhoon khi..." especially when the three brothers find out each other... This was one of my mothers favorite movies....

Those days, even though we dont understand hindhi, when it is telecast, we used to see that movie... My mom very religiously translate line by line for us, as she was a Hindi Pandit...

Based on these movies, lot of dramas came out with family song etc... It was all fun... We used to have a family song, and we sis/bro used to say, in case we have to split... Hahahahahah... It was huge fun those days...

Whenever I see that movie, it reminds me of my mom and invariably wait till that one song comes and then move on....
