    My maid who usually loves to eye my old things once a new one arrives is a changed person now!

    I pensioned off my old mixi after I bought a new food processor ...but to my amazement she never cast a second glance at the old one..

    "Why did you buy one ,amma? had you waited for 3 weeks ,the govt would have given you one "she said.

    Whoever comes next ,she is confident of getting a spanking new mixi,grinder,fan etc in addition to her TV .

    My driver is already enquiring about the price of my husband's laptop
    "If my son crosses 10th std,then he will get a laptop...I am crosschecking the rates...my pawn broker quoted a much lesser rate...Maybe they shoud have a Scooter as another option!"he feels...

    No money for voting..." screams the TV...but my sabziwallah is happy that he already got money from all the concerned parties few months earlier itself during the leaders birthdays along with sari/dhothis,biriyani and stainless steel vessels...

    "Will also get a washing machine-but will it be fully automatic?"asks my ironwalli...

    "Four goats are assured...so is my bountiful supply of homemade biriyani"
    thats my flat watchman ...

    "They are gonna get money+gold for getting a girl child-so they are going to scan and ensure it is a girl!" quips my neighbor as she glances at a pregnant pedestrian.

    I see a man sleeping under a bus shelter ...what is he dreaming of?

    More freebies from whoever comes to power?

    What next?

    Fridges...A/Cs...Ipads...
    holidays in hill resorts???

    Isnt this list of freebies announced in the election manifestoes -the official vote price ?Who cares????????

    sad state of affairs indeed but funny too.:biglaugh
    I remember my mother telling me some years back about her maid who very casually said she voted for one X instead of one Y simply because X had given her one extra saree . we were laughing that at least she showed some loyalty if not anything else.

    Usually they are loyal to their benefactors. Thats why our politicians shower them with freebies and win the state for a full term!

    But when a freebie war is on even they will be :spin:spin:spin.Poor things!

    Funny Writeup....i really enjoyed especially the maid's worry about the automatic washine machine.... :rotfl:rotfl

    but it shows the poor state of politics...cheap politics and dirty politicians..instead of these freebies,why dont they do something useful to satisfy the entire set of people...i mean why dont they say (1)proper roads(2)good sanitation(3)good schools etc...nope they know very well how to capture the crowd

    If they give good roads-they will not become richer...(only if the roads get craters and pits,can they float tenders to relay them after every rain or drizzle...thus fill up their coffers):idea

    If they give good schools they wont get votes after a decade(people will become really educated):bonk

    Sanitation..who cares ?Neither the voting mass nor the party bigwigs...Anyways, what are street corners and transformers for??????

    After all,we talkers seldom turn up to vote fearing long queues,violence etc. and for the dare all voters ignorance is bliss and freebies are wealth!
