    Hi friends,
why this is part 2 and you will be guessing where is the part 1? The first part was my 1st post too in the IL. So I thought why shouldn't I continue with the same topic with explanations.

I feel energetic every morning after eating the cereal or kanji with milk.
I feel energetic whenever I talk to my parents, relatives and also to my friends.

This made me feel like asking the question, which gives you energy--the food or the mood.
Ok if you are in good mood, you cook well and eat well.
If you eat well, does your mood improve?
If you are in a bad mood, don't you cook, maybe not eat well.

I am sorry Veda, does this relate to the household topic!

If the children come from school grumpy or so, elders used to say that if you give them something to eat they will stop grumping because their hunger is met.
If the same children come from school very happy, they do eat well.
    what is the difference?

As this is the festive season, our mood is very well good.
Is it due to the festival or the food associated with that or meeting friends and family, made that happen?

to me I couldn't find any answer to this because it is like 'which came first--hen or the egg?' situation.
give me some ideas from your perspective.

Very interesting topic and you have very nicely written too. Initially I thought its going to be a straight forward answer but before even starting to reply changed mind so many times. Yes I do feel good when I talk to friends, family and esp. husband and child. most often i cook very good meals after talking to the last two. So it is quite a challenge to figure out from the choice that you have presented. You have so rightly pointed out to the festive occassion too. So I am now as confused as before. But to some extent would like to vote in favor of friends and family over food. I mean good mood over good food !!!!!!!!!!

    Hi Sriniketan,
My vote goes to good mood as it outweighed good food.Reading and shopping(window as well) lifts my mood.If some thing doesnt turn out as per my plan.. i get moody.
So far only food prepared by my mom has brought good mood..So u can guess which gives me more energy

    Hi Sri,

I spent better half of the morning searching for your first post:spin!! Anyway, i too vote for Good Mood providing the boost we need. Yes, we can go on without food when we are working for a family function or celebrating. Even when we have to get ready at home for a pujai or when we in " Once in a Blue Moon" get into the Spring cleaning act:eek:mg: ( put that down to our good mood) , did you realise we never feel hungry!! We could just go on and on and on.......

But then when we are in a bad mood, not only does it show in our cooking, but we tend to reach for all those "feel good" foods:bangcomp: and yes all the energy we get shows on the number of layers we add to our mid region:mad:!

So always, no confusion about it, good mood is the cause of a really nice energy boost.

    :hiyaSriniketan,

For me good friends and family :kiss are mood boosters. My food tastes are very simple - a bowl of curd rice with some vege side-dish is all I prefer. I have had moments of rotten moods because of snide remarks from people, but I do'nt seem to get rotten moods because of bad food. So, I tilt more towards the mood side not the food side.

    dear srini,
there is a habit in mangalore side and i got to visit just one of their wedding in Bangalore, and after all the food was served they gave a 25ps coin which is not much available nowadays, and wait for the cook to come on the round to wish all good health to eat the food served in good mood and so on, i never could connect then but now that u mention i feel, yes mood has every thing to do with food too, when you are happy ur cooking come out wonderful for no reason, the same thing cannot be said of a mood gone out, like my second daughter chitra, cooks, but there is no swad now may be the on coming relations is upsetting her, so this is a very clear example of mood and food..sunkan

    Hi srineketan...
Good food and moods...............the first thing i can think is the sniffing pose of my kids (yeh people there dont start comparing with you know what...) as they enter the house...mom you made this...most of the days...i make something for them....sometimes as they used to come in the lift...mom we know the smell is coming from our house:crazy. So i know the mood lifts are food...but the same goes reverse...if they know it is not what they want...

For me mood lift...is a cup of coffee..good filter one.....with my family.....just having fun with the kids and veda.....

Somehow i never show my moods, in cooking and serving.....because i believe...Vai vazhtalainnalum, vayiru vazhtum...so always cook with love..that is my simple motto.....

    Dear Srinik,

I was searching for part 1.... Great.... life is to enjoy....

You have kept your word... thanks... For once I think I can try to get a "Sabash vedoo" from Shanthi... Hahahahahahaha...:boo::2thumbsup:.

If you ask me, I will split the energy into two aspect - Phsycological and Physical.. Pshycological energy will be up and in full swing if your mood is good... Physical energy will be good if you have good food...

I for one who believe in having good food, even at tensed moments... When your stomach is tickling, your mind will not work... Over and above that if you are down... you will loose focus and create more confusion than actually completing...

I love food and have good quantity... Thanks to Shan... She is an excellent cook, I enjoy her food throughly... Her concept is, whenever she cooks, she cooks with love and affection, that she is cooking for her hubby and kids, who enjoy eating... Even if I dont praise my tummy will do... Good food will improve your energy and mood swings also.. Atleast that is the case with me... When I have huge tensions at office and i have a good food... It used to help me a lot...

If you are in good mood, and you get good food...wah! Wah!... :drool What more u want...

You made me feel hungry... Let me go have my lunch... But it is unfortunately my own cooking.....:spin.

    Hai srini

    I vote for good mood

Reading and shopping never makes me feel hungy or tired...:boo::boo::yes:.....if u take me to Ranganathan st /pondy bazaar or somewhere for shopping...........i will neverever ask u any food , since i have FEAST TO MY EYES ............from morning till night 10pm we will do shopping........and will start only by 10.30 ........from that place(me and my friend):cool2:

If she is hungry i will send her for some light snacks and tell her that i dont want anything since i cant waste the time in eating.......still somemore shops to view.......

And, i regularly used to FAST for all puja days, and, till the cleaning is done,if i go outing with my cousins..........etc.........etc..

Even if iam so happy and veru much excited.........i wont feel hungry..:exactly:

So, for me, GOOD MOOD gives energy:boo::2thumbsup:

    Hi friends,
It is not the lack of food or mood that made this reply late to all your posts:redface: i blame it on the lack of time yesterday.
Moreover it is not worth the search for part 1 because mainly i didn't mark it as part 1:biggrin2:, and otherwise I was searching for that post which I at last spotted in the 'Healthy Foods' section. I have no idea:idontgetit: how it got there!

AC, did I confuse you till the end.:-o Maybe it is my way of expressing my views which make others confused, but i am happy that you doubt is cleared and casted your vote!

Supriya, what you are saying is right in my ways! our Mom's food is always a energizer! I was energetic when my children and myself went on for the summer vacation to India this summer!

Vandhana, it is true that when we are in bad mood, we look for 'feel good' food which in my case is anything sweet! I accept your point that only the mid-region has changed and not the mood! it is true that when our mood is good, we clean!

Nivedi, it is true that with friends and family our mood is elevated! You know what, when i saw the responses from you all, yesterday i was elevated and got energetic8)

Sunkan, money for good mood, hats off to that custom in Mangalore! Chithra has 2 contradicting emotions in her. Maybe that is the reason for not having that 'swad' in her food!

Shanthi, I agree with you 100% regarding 'vayaru vaazhthum' motto! My grandma and m Mom used to say that! I am at your side for not showing your emotion on the food we make!

Veda, thanks for your analysis! I think what i have understood from your post is your vote is for 'good food', isn't it?

Lata, thanks for your post here. One more vote for the 'good mood'. I can clearly understand from your facts that you are true to your words. this was proved by your smiling picture in the Kolu of 2007.
