hi, there are many singing & dancing classes going around but i am not sure if they cater carnatic mucis or dancing .u will have to check.but i guess there will be some to suit u. P.S; u get some warm clothes for the girls as it tends to be cold in mornings & try to bring toys for kids as priority as toys are very costly along with bedsheets, towels & blankets. utensils -u will get all & price is not that high compared to India still if u can manage bring some like idli plates ,non stick dosa pan etc.......... u will like this place.its really very green & beautiful. pragati
Hi Pragati, I am Vijay from Pune, India. I got job offer from RAPS Uganda, company for Kampala location. Just wanted to know how much safe Kamapala to join and do job? Please help me out as I have vary few days left to accept or reject this offer.
Hi Pragati / Swapna, r u still in Kampala. I wud be relocating to Kampala in Feb. Hows Cost of living there and cud u suggest a good school for my son ( 11 yrs) in Grade 5. Regards Gita
Hi Pragati We wud be relocating to Kampala in Feb and I have read all ur posts on the place. I have a 11 yr old son and my husband is a business man. You have been kind and replying to several queries on kampala. We look forward to be friends. Regards Gita
hello Mr Vijay, my husband is also in job so i guess its very safe that ways.otherwise if u chk all my replies u will see that i have stressed again & again that kampala is as safe as any Indian city. lots of Indians & other international community,a very strong UN base, friendly president make it a safe heaven.also, its important tourist sestination & derive a large chunk of its income from tourist so people in general are friendly to all foreginar. Indians have been staying here for almost a century, though there was trouble in 70s but since them it has emerged as a very pro indian country.u will find indian supermarket, schools, shops, tailors, salons.sweet shops & what not. many a times in big malls u see more asians then locals. pls, be assured it is good place pragati
hi Gita, i would love to meet u in person. kampala is good place & u will find lots of schools.u can choose according to ur convenience & budget. in feb we have elections here(18 feb) .is it possible for u to postpond ur arrival till march. during elections all schools will be closed, supermarkets are as good as closed as they keep very low stock & there may be restriction in movement .it will not be easy to set up a new house ,so i guess it will be good if u arrive in january or march. during elections many people travel back to their own country to be safe.many companies also let their employees have leave during this time. still its upto u & ur husband to decide. feel free to ask anything u want to know. pragati

Pragati, Thanks for so many posts.Your Information is really useful for those who wants to move to Kampala. i am planning to shift kampala and had some questions regarding School and Apartment. Can you advise specific good schools with budget in range of $800-$1000perTerm.I could not find any information of DPS as there is no website. Is DPS is good school?. Also i need to find furnished service apartment,Can u advise few within city limit. Thanks so much.
dear amitag, u can find about school & their fees by putting the names of school on Google. some of the schools are International school of uganda, kampala international school, rainbow international school, heritage international school,Aga khan international school, kampala parenting school & DPS. i am sure DPS,kampala parenting &Aga Khan has fee structure less then $ 800 per term. there are many fully furnished appartments as lots of tourist come to uganda.it is advisable to get appartment near office as traffic jams like any big city is a nightmare here............ u can try New Vision newspaper which has online addition also to find appartments..........otherwise all malls have a wall dedicted to put ad for rents ...........check them if u are locally present in kampala
