    Hi
I plan to travel to Mumbai when my baby is around 8 months old ..
I have read the entire thread air travel to India and found many useful tips ...I'm not posting this question there since when I posted my last question I didn't get enough responses .. I hAve some specific doubts .., pls pls help me

Does anyone know if the 9th month vaccination can /should be delayed ...i was thinking I will get it done for my baby when we return back as she will miss it in USA
Anyone with similar experience ?When is the next vaccination after 9 months ?

My baby has been sleeping in the crib here in USA ,now I'm worried about her sleep back home , since we don't have a crib back home - is it difficult to get them to sleep in the bed in india and then again to sleeping in the crib whn we re back in USA ?? I heard that once they are in the habit of sleeping with us they don't prefer the crib
Anyone with similar experiences ? My baby is 6 months old

How long does it take for their body clock to get tuned to indian time ??
What can we do to make it easier and faster ?? Any tips ??? Pls Advice , would really Appreciate

I'm sure when I go all of the relatives and my inlaws ( who live in a different city ) want to meet the baby ,,I would love to meet them too but not at their commands ...I wish to give my baby time and see that she is comfortable there first ..how to handle these relatives without sounding too fussy and not hurting their sentiments . Is it advisable to travel within India with a 9/10 Month old if they have missed one vaccination ?

Where Do we get pampers (USA brand ) in Mumbai ?? Does anyone know ?

It may seem like a long post but pls I need your advice .:)
It will help me a lot , really appreciate your responses.
Any other suggestions about the trip are also highly welcome :)

    Thanks

I just visited India (for 3 weeks only) with my baby who was 9.5 month at that time. To answer a few of your questions:
    1. My paed said no 9 month vaccination- it's only a wellness visit.. So I actually skip it (Have to take a day off at work to visit the doctor and
    my baby looks healthy...)
    2. We did have trouble getting him back to the crib after coming back from India, but then we were persistent in getting him back. You
may lose sleep a few nights, but fight it out and it'll be fine eventually.
    3. Yes I did find decent brand of diapers in India (I was in B'lore). There are malls with baby shops and have everything you need for your baby. I'm not sure
about formula (assuming you need it) as I was breastfeeding him. I took a bunch of gerber foods and prepared formula cans (as backup) from the US.
    4. Jet lag was minimal. Make sure you wake her up if she oversleeps during the day. She'll eventually adjust and you'll be fine.
    5. Call up relatives and fix times around your baby's nap times. My relatives were very accomdating with the fact that I was visiting India for the first
time with my infant and he did fine socializing with everyone.
Again I'm not sure how long you will be away. My trip was short so I was able to manage without exposing him to the water/food in India. So I can't
    give much advice.

    @ waitingfortej - thank u so much :)
Just wondering that if your baby was 9.5 months old how did u avoid giving him food water in India ? I understand babies that age eat solids and drink water .. Pls correct me if I missed something here

Which brand of diapers you used ? I'm using pampers here

I'm also exclusively bf her now , but I will be starting solids as she has completed 6 months old ..so wanted to ask u when do doctors here in USA advice to start giving water ??

    Ladies pls suggest -
Im a little worried abt the water in India ..did u give boiled water or bisleri?? Which is best for baby ?I will be travelling when she is around 8 months old

Does anyone know about any seasonal diseases that babies may catch during Jan to April in India ?

Whats the next vaccination after the 6 month one here in USA ?

I will be meeting my pead next week .. So your responses will help me ask her questions if any ...

    Pls advice ladies -
Any other suggestions abt India trip are highly welcome
    Thanks

I have just moved to mumbai with my 2 month old baby.. last week..

Diapers - i was using pampers in usa, so i brought 1 week supply.. over here I have found imported pampers from UAE, they are selling in santacruz, hasnabad lane at a store called VALUE & also at mahavir also on the same lane.. they are pretty good as well.. both are at wholesale prices.

water - i would advise u to give filtered then boiled water to the kid.. not bisleri (as these days even bisleri is contaminated) no outside food / water .. food make at home

crib - we have just bought a crib from mothercare, u get packnplays & cribs ect here in mothercare & a store called mom&me for around Rs.5000

I used a baby carrier no stroller or anything. Moved when baby was 7 weeks old after his first vaccines. It was easy. He slept most of time.

If possible have minimum hand luggage.

hi, what about mosquito problems? how did you sterilise bottles on the go? We will be staying in a hotel, and I am scared about what water to give the baby to drink and also in the formula. Any advice?

Carry baby mosquito repellent & ask pedia what to use. If u are in hotel boil mineral water in the hotel kettle & use for formula.

I don't sterilize bottles anymore. I wash with soap in really hot water.
