One of my indian friend got her delivery here in KL. She visited Pantai Hospital which is somewhere near brickfields. While she used to tell about her gyne visit during her pregency... it gave me feel that her doc is really good. Will take the doc's name and other detail of the hospital soon and would post here.

The reason I think Indian Private Hospitals are better are :

    1. the right hospital and the expertise doctor just analyzes the symptoms and diagnoses the pain.
    2. He gives prescriptions for medicines, they can be got anywhere,
    3. The medicines got names, ingredients, etcetc, so we can analyse if later we get allergy.
    4. fees also reasonable..

    Here,
The clinics charge really high and they give a strip of some tablets in the plastic cover, most of which got no name, only different colours.:bonk

Imagine for some rashes caused due to red ant bite, they charged me 65RM in a clinic and they gave one small tube ointment.

Surely, 65*13.50 Rs 850 in India for the visit and one small ointment..

    Pour in your views..

    Hi Preethi,

I can comment on the hospitals in Mumbai...Leelavati, Bombay Hospital, Breach Candy are all fabulous hospitals their facilites are compared to 5 star hotels....personally i feel when u r sick n CAN afford then why not? It is best to be in better enviornment for speedy recovery.....

Charges for global doctors G.P visit are 80 myr....i think reasonable as it is a very neat n clean clinic, will update the charges about the hospital after i take my tiny tot for his 12 month vaccination....

Yes Preethi India always rocks!!! We are doing a great job as far as medical facilities are concerned n so many of my expat freinds have been to bangalore/mumbai/delhi (particularly Appollo Hospital) for various surgeries....cost effective, n superb doctors....they said in their country too they prefer an indian doc so why not go to india for the surgery....

Yes Sonu,I have heard many cases of patients coming to chennai Apollo and so on other hospitals for big treatments, as they are the best and cost effective.

If its an emergency, then its ok. But I would like to enquire and know stuff,so that I do not find myself unsure of what to do.

80 MYR for a General Visit is really too much, how much ever clean and good they are, this is my opinion.:rant

The sickness gets cured only by medicines and not by the environment of the hospital, or interiors or aesthetics. Just a normal, simple, clean environment would suffice. Is there something like a fever gets cured soon when we go to an expensive hospital??:notthatway:

I agree that Glenagles, pantai and sunway are good , but they are expensive. there s no question of ''can'' afford it or not. Everybody got the money for paying to hospitals, I do not deny. But what is the point?

If the Medical expenses are covered by the Company or Insurance ( as it is here for most of the working people), then what you say is reasonable. Otherwise, it will become a considerable hole in the pocket.

Sorry, I haven't been saying much but have been reading everything that's posted here. You know how it is, when you are not well and in pain, just no mood to comment on anything.
Yes, being sick makes one miserable and the hospital bills - a big hole in the pockets. I know there's no place like home for you guys but soon you'll get use to things here.
Seeking treatment at private hospitals is only for the very rich or for those with medical insurance. Most employees also have their medical bills taken care of by their employers. There are government hospitals here but the queue to see a doctor is usually very long and a specialist even longer. Oh and never get admitted in a General Hospital. Its horrible, will make u more sick, believe me.
I normally go to a clinic for all our medical needs. There are lots of clinics everywhere near all housing estates. Basically, u just need to find one that suits your needs and a doctor you are comfortable with. Sonu, I have never been to any of the clinics near your area so will not be able to comment. But here in Subang, we have two private hospitals and lots of clinics. Clinics run by GP not to costly but those run by specialist basically charge more. Subang has good dentist, skin specialist and paediatricians too. Sorry Preeti, but their rates are high and in most cases one visit is sufficient.
But I do have good news for you. Right here in New Taipan there's a centre run by a husband and wife team, both Indians called QHC. His name is Dato Dr Subramaniam and he's a gynae and so is his wife. I think you'll be comfortable going to them. Their rates are lower then SJMC, Sunway Medical and also Pantai. Your delivery can take place at their centre if you want to. Go and pay them a visit. Will get their contact for you. Very close to where you are right now, actually.
Maneka, I'm glad yr friend was in good hands in Pantai. But my sister had a very bad experience at Pantai Hospital during her pregnancy. After delivery we had to transfer her to SJMC due to complications and the way her surgery was handled there. Imagine having here stitches all removed and redone. Btw, my elder one was born in my hometown and the second in my husband's hometown. Not here in KL.
Sonu, I hope all's good for you now. Look on the bright side, its only temporary for you. LOL
    Take care.
    Love you all.

    Hey Jas,

Hope u get well soon....Im glad that this is temporary but yet it is a gud 3 yrs i have to remove in this country ....so might as well look out for gud doc n clinics ....i have babies n u never know when they need a specialist.

Hey preethi i thought all medicals were covered for expats n locals have free treatment in the governement hospitals....I think its best to be with medical covered if u move in any country as sometimes the charges are way beyond imaginations like for e.g in dubai my pediatrician charged 500 aed just for a visit whether he treated u or not (i mean well baby visit also is 500 aed) but the hospital is too gud n as i mentioned earlier i dont mind paying a premium for excellent services n neatness.....so i always went there for both my kids ....

I tried a few hospitals before for my delivery as my friends kept saying what is the point of going to welcare too expensive n all that but later after a few experiences figured out that when u pay a premium u get the results also....no doubt welcare was expensive ...way too expensive my delivery costed around 15000 aed but it was worth every penny...n i realised why some freinds kept recommending who had got theirs done there....i was also of the same opinion as u....why waste (Even though medical was covered) i insited i will try the other hospitals but :ranti was frustrated with the services....so i changed my opinion then on:bowdown

Thanks Jas for ur info even though u r not well, really appreciate it Im sure it will benefit a lot to all.

I have been saying this to maneka that even though Il is not so active now with many members im sure after some time when there are more newcomers they will sure benefit with the info we have put in here....

    Dear ILs,

Hope you get well soon Ms.Jas. Its true when we are sick, we feel just like that you have said. Don't worry, you should be alright soon and Thanks a ton for those information:thumbsup I am really glad with the information that you have given us and the experiences. Sure,it helps:)

I have gone to a clinic run by ''Alam Medic'' which is a 24 hour clinic near USJ 5 or something, I am not sure, but somewhere around there.. The treatment was good, and the doctor is friendly and yes, the only one visit was worth it.

As Sonu has mentioned, The medical insurance or coverage cannot be done for me as I am neither a citizen or an expat or a employee permanent anywhere still. I am on "dependent visa" . So, I am in:spin But, "never mind", I feel better and confident after the post from Jas. Thank you all.

Sonu, you are correct, the KL thread is mostly only a handful of us now, but this will surely help people who will later move in here or view this. So, lets keep it going.:coffee

    Again, Jas, Get well soon..:cheers
