    Dear friends,

    Water treatment for arthritis :

Hydrotherapy involves exercising or relaxing in warm water.
The water takes some weight off painful joints, making it easier to exercise.
It helps relax tense muscles and relieve pain.

Have any one tried this method...I saw this treatment in one of nature cure hospital recently...

your feedbacks will add more informations on these...

    Hi Subbu,

I go to water aerobics class 3 times a week at the sports club.

I have hernia in my L4-L5 region and any excercise that involves impact like treadmill, jogging and even elliptical are out of question for me. The water fitness class turned out to be ideal since the water acts as a cushion and also doubles up as creating additional friction. So when jumping to get the cardio part going, the impact is less on the feet and joins while it takes more muscle effort to overcome the water (friction is not the right word ) .

We do jogging, biking (no cycle is involved, use the noodle to float vertically and do the cycling motion), skiing, and wieghts in the pool (deep end, water should come upto a persons shoulders)

As for the joint pains associated with arthritis, steam rooms are very helpful in providing temporary relief.

I have heard of traditional mallu treatments that involve regular massages and 'kashaayam' treatment with proper diet - under a physicians guide ofcourse.

Theres a hospital in chennai run by Kerala Government that is said to treat arthritis. Also Kottakal arya vaidya sala in Anna nagar is said to be good for arthritis. Check it out!
