    Contended..Whatever you have written has happened to me.

    Not in the get together bt in the office.

    From last march i m on diet. Not dieting actually healthy eating.

    After 2-3 months one male collegue of mine asked me you are dieting but i cant see you loosing weight. So what is the point.

    I replied back, Sir My weighing scale is showing it so i dont need other proof.

    He was so blunt and rude he asked me how many kgs you lost. :bonk

    I just smiled didnt reply. wat to do.?

    So many of my friends are slim and skinny. So many times there comments hurt me. But i dont care now.

    My weight is my issue not anyone else. So i stop them before they start discussing my weight or diet.

    Dear Contented,

    I usually take a piece and I keep nibbling on it. I really suck on such parties, the more people push more stubborn I become. When told that I continuous diet I tell them that 'this is the way I eat and I really do not push myself to eat much'.

    Why be EVEN contented, all the fun lies in being THE ODD one out.

    People need top learn to give space, period. When someone is saying NO to fried oily stuff then they should respect someone's choice. If they cannot maintain that space then we just need to teach them.

    I usually sit through the party without snacking much, I tell them that I want to eat my dinner nicely . They sip cold drink and I sip water.

    When I don't tell them that they should stop eating fried snacks then they have no right to pressurize me into eating high cal stuff.

    In expat life you need to socialize. In India we can pick and choose but not outside. You need a group and those are the people who are there to interact with. So don't avoid these parties. Go there and just relax. If you don't want to gossip then sit back and listen.

    Observe the drama and have fun. These parties can actually be very interesting with all the gossips floating around, so sit back and just enjoy.


    This is just the beginning honey. As you will lose more weight the J signal will start turning green and more attacks will happen.

    The best thing you can do is arrive with slim figure hugging dressing, OUCH, imagine the look on their face.

    First I used feel sad and angry when people commented on my weight even I lost lot of it. Now I smile and say "Once an elephant always an elephant." I agree with them that yes I am fat and will be this way always. They usually keep quiet after that.

    Yes I diet, Yes I exercise, Yes I am fat, Yes there is not much change in me even though I constantly diet. SO WHAT, is there anything else, Now move on.

    These kind of attacks come from very deep seathed frustration, when they see another woman achieving what they cannot and hence the attack. I feel sad for women who say such thing to show down those who have achieved, it only goes to show that these women have not achieved anything yet.

    Once a relative told my sister about me, "I can believe anything but I cannot believe how her shoulder became slender without any treatment or surgery. That part was so huge it can never become slender without any operation". My sister felt angry as she had seen me slogging hard. But if you look at it, its plain foolishness. I have never heard anyone going through shoulder surgery to make them look slender. But this is the extent people will go to show you down.

    And you take this in writing from me Contented and when this happen please come back and write that it happened. From that same group there will be one woman who will approach you for help. There will be one woman who will look up to you. And when she approach you Contented give your 100% to guide and help her.

    The best walk is that of an elephant. When the elephant walks the dogs bark. There is no fun in being in the group of dogs and bark on every passing person. The real fun is to be an elephant with the most amazing walk and to walk in front of the dogs and make them bark till their throat go sore.

    Dear Hasna,

    Try aiming for 4 - 5 times a week for gym. 2 days go for intense and then 1 day light workout and then again 2 days intense.

    In 45 minutes workout aim for cardio majorly if you are looking for weight loss.

    In Horizon gym machines

    1. Treadmill 22 minutes. 20 minutes walk and 2 minutes cool down. Target your heart rate. You will see the heart rate chart on the front panel. You should aim to train at endurance level. Get in a 5 minutes jog to give you a real burn.

    2. 10 minutes of elliptical and 10 minutes of cycling.

    3. In rest of the 5 - 10 minutes.

    Do on alternate days

    A) leg press, abductor, aductor. 25 counts each

    B) Chest press, tricep press and lat pull down. 25 counts each.

    This is a complete workout. To get in a weight loss you need to put 75% of your time on cardio and 25 % of the time on weights. If you are running late then its the cardio which will help you in the long run. Once you are on your target weight you can concentrate on the toning up.

    On the less intense day, go for a walk on treadmill on a lesser speed. The trick is o do the same kind of workout with less intensity.

    I do not target my calories (as I doubt them), I target my heart rate.

    Thanx Shiva. Yes, I too thot that 3 times is not enough. This morning, (woke up early ins pite of it being a thu) and managed to be the first person at the gym!! Anyway, I am doing 6.5 speed on treadmill with 4-5 incline. (22 min). The cycling, level 9-10 for 10 min and ET, I cannot go beyond level 3..for abt 5-7 minutes.i somehow find it difficult to coordinate. I am trying to streamline my stepping as I feel that I am not moving correctly on it.

    Please do not take these things to heart. We have to train ourselves to make sure that these things do not go beyond irritating us. My principle is that I get hurt only if it comes from people who matter to me. If these people do not really matter to you, then just listen through one ear, and send it out through the other. I too wonder sometimes about women who are so keen to bring other women down. Especially among relatives. I cant understand what they get out of it. But what I do understand is that, they get somethign out of it only when they manage to faze us.
    SO ...dont worry be happy!!!

    1. LIPOSUCTION

    Imagine a huge stomach. If only fat is sucked out of it, what will be left is hanging skin and loose muscles, as fat is not taken out over a a period of a year or month, it is taken out over the period of days. So liposuction alone does not help. One then has to go for tightening of skin and stomach muscles which happen with surgery and its a operative procedure.

    It requires recovery time and strict diet. Moreover like another operation it does involve pain specially as the stomach muscles need time to adjust.

    One has to monitor what she eats as the tissues can start growing. Usually liposuction kills the fat tissues but if the person goes back to her old eating habits the fat tissues start increasing on another part of the body. If the cells are not properly destroyed they start growing on the same part once again. In short diet and exercise needs to be done through out the life

    2. Bariatirc Surgery -


    Its a surgery and that too an operative one. Anyone who has gone through an operation knows how difficult it is to heal. Its a major operation and you can see videos on youtube on how much care people require after it.

    In short the path is difficult for them too. They don't have it easy. They have to go through the same diet restrictions and have to overcome their weakness and temptations like all of us. They also run the risk of going off track all their life just like us. The only difference is that they took medical help and we did not.

    There is nothing wrong in taking medical help. I equally respect people who have gone through these procedures. Sad part is that world look at it as easy whereas it is not at all easy. That is one reason why these people lie about the treatment.

    Someone had to go through lot of emotional pain and hurt to decide for an operative surgery. Even with lots of money, getting yourself cut is a tough call. These surgeries involves major health risks. SO if someone is ready to go through it then she must have gone through worse.

    I once read an article on a woman who lost lot of weight due to stomach stapling. She was a white and really obese. The way we see those tall white people who are really fat. She wrote that for major part of her life she sat in a shop selling things and every day her father ridiculed her on being fat. No one dated her and her father took his frustration out by ridiculing her looks. She saved money and at the age of 45 she went for the surgery, lost lot of weight and was really beautiful. She then got married. Her biggest regret was that her father died before seeing her thin, she wanted to prove to him that she is beautiful.

    A person has to go through so much hurt to decide to go through that kind of surgical operation.

    We all need a push and motivation to lose weight. For some people its just the dead end, when they cross even 120 kgs. For those people this is the ray of hope.

    I have real high regards for people who have gone for medical procedure. They have put in the same hard work and have shown same will power in reducing weight like all of us.

    If it gives someone a new leash to life, keeps her happy and motivated, if she could afford it then there is nothing wrong in it.
