    Hi Abha,
Sorry for late reply. ITIL is applicable to the IT infrastructue services - Mainly like service desk, support, change management etc.

Lean and Six Sigma are Quality Measures.

Lean in nutshell is to increase productivity bu reducing wastes.Lean is TQM - Total Quality Management

Six Sigma is continous improvement - applied to one particular part of a IT function.Mainly BPO functions follow six sigma.

    Will brief you more tomm.

Just to add to this - Six Sigma is used in many industries across the world now. Not just the BPO industry. It actually started in GE many years back. Jack Welch wanted to streamline his company's operations and he conceived of this method. My hubby worked on a six sigma project last year at a clothings manufacturer. So these days SS is everywhere...and not confined to any one sector...:)

I went to a PMTI course here in the US. It had been certified by PMI organization. My company paid for everything. The cost was around $4000. I don't know how much it would be in India. It was a 5 day course and we took the exam on the 6th (or 7th) day.

It was a relatively easy course. It just put specific terminology on procedures and events that happen when we manage a project in our regular day to day work.

The exam also required some classroom training (online courses are acceptable). I did the online one from PMTI for some $ 200-300.

When you apply for PMP exam, you need to full out a spreadsheet on how many hours of project management (and details of the kinds of projects) experience you have. They require a minimum of 4500 hrs I think. It keeps on changing, so you might want to find out the latest creds. After filling all the project mgmt experience details, you need to send it across to PMI org. They will review yr application over 5-10 days and then tell you whether you are eligible to give the exam or not.

If you are taking a training course, them I'm sure that the study material would be sufficient (along with the PMBOK guide that the PMI institute will send you after you apply for the exam). Also give the exam within a few days of taking the course, so that everything is fresh in mind.

Let me know if you have any more questions.
