Detoxing

    Hi,

    I wanted to know how we can detox our body.
    If anyone could give me a diet plan for detoxing, it will be very helpful.

    Detoxing is prescribed by many. I just saw Oprah Winfrey Show with Dr.Ox.
    They say that, detoxing does not do what it's name suggests, but decreases salt and sugra cravings in a big way. And detox is effective only on a long run..Not sure about thisinof, but I ll tell whatever I know.
    It's about having raw food, like potatos, onion, green veggies like spinach, cabbage, lettuce for a day o week as per plan.
    You can ty it, no harm, but see if it suits you.

    Hi Meen,

    Thanks for the info. I donot have sugar craving but do need extra salt in my meals. I have water retention in my ankles if i travel long distances. I take plenty of water daily.
    Just needed to know if detoxing has any good effects on skin. I dont mind eating raw food for 1 day in a week.

    detoxification means cleaning the blood. It does this mainly by removing impurities from the blood in the liver, where toxins are processed for elimination. .

    How does detox help you...
    1) Resting the organs through fasting;
    2) Stimulating the liver to drive toxins from the body;
    3) Promoting elimination through the intestines, kidneys and skin;
    4) Improving circulation of the blood; and
    5) Refueling the body with healthy nutrients.

    So the moment all this is done..your skin glows....:2thumbsup:

    how to do....
    First, lighten up your toxin load. Eliminate alcohol, coffee, cigarettes, refined sugars and saturated fats, all of which act as toxins in the body
    Eat plenty of fiber, fresh fruits and vegetables. Beets, radishes, cabbage, broccoli, are excellent detoxifying foods.
    Take vitamin C, which helps the body produce glutathione, a liver compound that drives away toxins.
    Practice hydrotherapy by taking a very hot shower for five minutes, allowing the water to run on your back. Follow with cold water for 30 seconds. do this alternatively..
    Dry-brush your skin to remove toxins through your pores.
    and the main one drink lots of water....

    As i said, the other day when I watched Oprah's show detoxing was tested on some women. Another set of similar women did not go for detox diet.
    In the end of trial which lasted for 7 days, there was absolutely no change in the detox-ed group. And they concluded that detox does no good except reducing the cravings. This was the first time I came across such information. The validity of that needs to be verified from another source.

    However the effects of Detox-ing, that are so direct, are that ur salt and sugar intakes for that one day or 2 days is reduced. Also u have practiced some mind control.

    Hi vidya,

    Forget detox diet....for once give a trial of ayurvedic detox:2thumbsup:. It really works wonders......i personally vouch for it......
