Not sure if yours is the same thing, but I developed PUPPP during my final trimester and it drove me mad!

There's nothing much you can do, except try not to scratch (virtually impossible, I know) and remember to keep your skin moisturised well with a hypoallergenic moisturiser. Keep away from fragranced potions and lotions, and try whatever your doctor suggests. Calamine lotion is a good idea, as is any anti-itch cream. However, be sure to apply topical steroids only under the direction of your doctor. Avoid very hot baths or showers, and try to keep your skin free of irritation (no tight clothes, synthetic fabrics, etc.).

My midwife had me take Benadryl at night, which is an anti-histamine. I'm not sure if it helped with the itching, but it did make me drowsy enough to fall asleep when the itching was keeping me awake.

The good news is, as the article above says, PUPPP does not have any adverse affect on the baby.

I'm sorry you're dealing with this itching at a time when you've probably got many other discomforts as well. It usually disappears completely by the time your baby is born, so there's that to look forward to. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy, and have a safe labour and delivery :)

In my last check up i came to know that i have PUPPS and my gynec also recommanded me calamine lotion. Another thing she told me which is really helping me out is to apply ice pack in the area where i feel like itching. This one is really helpful. Try out if possible.

    hi friends

My relatives say that the baby has too much hair...that is why it is itching!!!!!!!!! (beliefs !!!!!!!!!!)

But it was true too !!!!!!!!!!!!

Try Applying oil frequently to minimise marks ...it is actually because our skin is expanding !!!!!!!

    hi teju
Itching is quiet common during pregnancy, as your tummy is expanding.Better apply cold creams as suggested by lavii which helps you alot.Apply the cream twice in a day.You will even get some oils in pharmacy or super market for stretch marks.
Ofocurse they are not complete solution but just to avoid marks increasing and your itching.
I apply nivea cold cream in the morning and oil in the nite which is helping me alot.
    all the best.

    Dear Teju

You may just pluck few Neem leaves with stems and can use this if you feel itchy rather than scratching with your nails which will leave marks. Also try applying Franch Oil (NH) which has no harmful ingredients to avoid itching.

BTW, the marks can be removed later by applying cocoa butter cream or 'Nomarks' which has very good effect.

    Best of luck
    Shanti
