Do children have to study in French only ?After landing in Quebec , do I have all the rights to move anywhere in Canada ? And if I move out of Quebec do I get all the health insurance facilities ? all these questions are haunting my mind .

Hello Tej, I'm from France and in somewhat, Quebec is a lot like France. You need to know french in order to get around Quebec. Your children will have to go to french school which is mandatory or else you need to have a large and I mean a very very large bank account to put 'em in a private english school. You have the rights to do whatever you want as long as you have your permanent Visa which is permanent after 3 years after aquiring a permanent visa, Keep in mind, Canada is not India. Like France, they keep a very close watch on you. If you immigrate immediately, you will end up being rejected right in the middle and have you sent back to your respective place of origin. That's exactly why I mentioned 3 YEARS. I have a daughter, she speaks mostly french anyway as she goes to French school. So yes, if your kids doesnt know a word of french, it's gonna be really really really tough of them. Medical Insurance is the least of your problem. The government will need to see proof of funds first thing to make sure you can live without medical care and government pension for atleast 6 months to a year. If you do not have the necessary funds, they will find out. So, trust me, i come from a socialist country where government controls everything sees everything. Don't mess around, Dont fly to Canada on Tourist Visa, You will be enslaved for atleast 5 years. Which means you are not allowed the resident permit until you work for one company for minimum five years which also means that the company you will end up working will own you for less than a 500 to 1000 dollars a month and will make you workd for over 60 hours or more a week. And if you dont like it and leave the company, the government will send you out. I have a friend who IS in this situation. He regularly ask his father to send him money cuz he doesnt even have enough to pay his rent, let alone his food or clothes. Do about the right way, it takes a long time but it's the most efficient. Canada is one of the most beautiful place to stay, but has it strict policy. KEEP IN MIND, IT'S NOT THE USA, so dont think it's mentality is american. Quebec is entirely different from Toronto or others. So good luck and our blessings to your family.

    Hi Tejinder,
I like to welcome you in Quebec. We are also a new immigrant here rexcently arived. Quebec is a wonderful land to live and work. However, if you know french speak, reada and write very good, you will earn a job within a couple of day. if not, labour jobs like grass cutting, truck driving, car driver jobs, general help are avilable. Several professions are regulated, one need to get license before to pratctice on that profession e.g. engineer, doctor, nurse, teacher etc. Immigrants childrens will not be allowed in English school so they have to go only to French school. But donot worry, there will be a welcome class and within a yea they may moved to the right level of french class.

Being a permanent residen, You can move around any part of Canada as same like India. Provincial government manages Health insurance, so when you move to other province you need to return your Quebec Health insurance and appl the health insurance on the province where you desired to stay. But you ma need to wai for three months for every change. You may be charged fo the health service that you used on Quebec health insurance at Quebe province if you return it.

You will see seveal Srilankan Tamils, Indian or Pakistani punjabi crowd and Pakistanis here. You will see big bold lettrs in GURUDWARA " KALISTHAN IS OUR MOTHER LAND" whih i really hated.

I didnot like it because those who wrote this forgot to remeber thtat they enjoyed Indian education system and resources before they landed here. Please contact me through private messages.

We applied for Quebec PN program. But as both DH and I did not have French knowledge we enrolled for classes but we moved and our attorney did not update our address so our application was rejected. We came to Alberta through work permit. There are other provinces like AB, SK and Manitoba which dont require french knowledge and have lot of job opportunities.
