Mornings are always busy in our house whether it is any day of the week. Both me and dh get up at 6 a.m. He likes to take bath first and starts reading Rudram, Vishnu Sahasranamam etc. Then I take bath and enter the kitchen by 7 a.m. , sometimes 7.10 a.m.and from then till 8.00 a.m. or 8.15 a.m. I am busy in the kitchen. Some people cut the vegetables one days before only so that it will be easy the next day. But I cut the vegetables in the morning only. Don’t like to waste any minute during my cooking. Everyday chapatti only for breakfast in the morning as night we have only snacks. Morning only I make breakfast and lunch . Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays do archana also so have to finish the cooking fast and do pooja . Everyday spend one hour for cooking and then another half an hour or sometimes one hour in pooja. Everyday from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. is a very busy time for me. Usually people who go to work only are busy during morning hours but in our house everyday it is the same routine, whether it is week day or Sunday.
My brother’s wife tells me why do you do everything in the morning only in such a hurry , can cook for breakfast in the morning and then later you can do cooking for lunch aramse. Why hurry like this. But my husband wants everything to be ready in the morning only . I also feel I am very fresh in the morning and feel active to do everything.
How much I try to write something humorous but I am not able to.

I like that aunty. Nice you are busy whether it is a weekday or holiday. But I am different.

I get into week end mood by Friday evening itself becos Saturday i need not pack lunch for my DH. But since nowadays i travel a long distance, I carry my lunch. But I leave by 8.45 a.m. only by then I complete my kitchen work and put up the utensils for wash. Sundays, we are awake only by 6.30 a.m. and then visit Shirdi Baba temple. Sometimes, we register for some poojas there so get back only by 10.00 a.m. After coming home, we will have soup and then lunch by 12.00 noon.

But then just like you, even I do not have the habit of cutting veggies the previous day. I do it only in the mornings always.

Dear Vijiji - I too am out of the bed at 6:00 whether it's Summer or Winter; I too don't like cutting the vegetables the previous day. But after coming here I don't cook everyday because I don't find the time to do that. Basically till I finish the leftover food I don't cook much unless I expect guests. While I was India I used to do lengthy pooja every Tuesday evening reciting Ashtothra and thrisathi with offerings of many 'Neivedhyams' but after coming here I just chant the Manthras and offer fruits to God. Can't help it Vijiji though I would love to follow the rituals because I was brought up that way........

    My dear Mindi

Glad to know about your routine. Good toknow that you also feel that mornings are always fresh and active. Weekends are for enjoying and doing everything slowly but my husband feels everyday is the same.

    Dear Monifa

From your posts I can make out that you follow all rituals. But staying abroad it is difficult to follow them. Since you are working you have to adjust accordingly. Thanks for your presence here and I am happy to see you here.

    love
    viji

    Dear Viji Ma'am,
Its always so refreshing to read your posts. There is something in your writing that actually makes us feel as though we are experiencing the situations along with you. Reading your morning activities I could smell you preparing breakfast and lunch. Oh how I miss the sound of those pressure cooker whistles coming from neighbours apartments, and the smell of the rotis.
Vijima I wish I was as organised as you and could finish my work by 9am. Then you must be having the whole day to yourself to do other stuff. As for me I am always running around:spin cooking cleaning, laundry, and always thinking about all the stuff I have to do if I have time:bonk.
