    Hi friends,

I have frizzy and curly hair and it is not manageable unless I straighten it once a week after the head shower. right now I have Revlon brand hair straightener, but it is not good, can you suggest any good brand I can purchase.

I keep hoping these silly hopes: straight haired people will like straight hair, curly haired people will like curly hair, light skins will like light skins, dark skins will like dark skins. Somehow we all chase after what we aren't.

Have you thought about getting one of the new products for curly hair that make it go into ringlets? I think that is a nice look and if you go to a beauty shop they can advise and show you how to do it. Also you can see videos on the shopping channels of products and how they are used. I just think that straightening is so hard on hair and it is one process that makes one's hair flammable: look what happened to Michael Jackson years ago.

Totally agree with tashidelek! I have curly hair(not super curly, but not straight def) and have always longed for long straight hair. I tried using straighteners and used to smell a burnt smell everytime I used it on my hair(ofcourse inspite of using the creams etc which would prevent it from burning, dont recall the name) and my hair started turning more brown(mine is really black) and becoming more brittle with more use of the straightener and that's when I decided to throw it out and accept my hair as it is. Straight hair looks very pretty, but curly is pretty as well. I am not sure how chemical straightening works, but that is not healthy as well. Of course if you're working, straight hair looks professional on the formal wear, but when I think about it, I would have healthy curly hair rather than straight dry brittle hair anytime :thumbsup

Infact I like wavy or curly hair more than straight hair but my hair is very frizzy and combing the curly , frizzy hair is leading to hair fall and difficult to manage , thus I wanted to used straightener to make it manageable but not for style.
I have to see how this riglets will work and whether is time consuming or whether it suits me.

    thanks for your advice.

Yes, I am working and thus want to manage my hair without struggling everyday, I am using conditioners, that will make it smooth to some extent for 1 day, later day it is again frizzy.

I use farouk chi hair straighter and it works great!!!. I am very satisfied. It gives nice shine to the hair. Personally, i don't use straighter too much. I use it twice or thrice per month. So no problem of hair loss for me. I really recommend this straighter. But it is a little pricey compared to other products.

Appreciate your efforts to manage your hair inspite of the hectic working schedule :thumbsup
Here's one great tip(sorry forgot to mention in the previous post), an easy way to keep hair straight without all the heat and chemicals is to blow dry and straighten with a comb.
Of course time consuming, but worth the time(I was too lazy to do it everyday and eventually started wearing ponies to work :bonk

Before a few days I had asked for suggestions from ILites on what to use for my dry-frizzy-curly-unmanagable hair which is experiencing hair fall too.
I saw a programme on tv, where a trichologist (she said that people who give hair treatments are called so) spoke and she suggested that it is better to use shikakai instead of shampoos.

So, last week I bought 'Meera Shikakai' (since I wont be able to get the home made shikakai that my Mom makes now) and so far have taken bath once with it. I think that my hair looks not so dry, not so frizyy, ofcourse curly and is completely managable. And the hair fall is much less when compared to how it was before.

Please donot do straightening or blow drying often, since it will deteriorate your hair.

even I am now thinking of stopping shampoos, and start the shikakai, but I have to see where I can find good brank shikakai in US. also I have to use methi, egg, henna mixture every week to make hair healthy so that it will be manageable, I am very lazy to apply them and use only once in 2 months. I have do it regularly. give any more tips to make hair shiny, less dry , less frizy to manage it easily without using any creams, gels or straighters.

    Suja.
