My DS has completed 5 months. he is not rolling over and not at all trying also. we made all techniques but he is just tilting his head.

he is sitting now without support also for sometime(1-2 min).

eventhough iam not more concerned about this i jst want to know whether any body else had this type of experience.

Also, please give some ideas to teach or engage my DS.

    Gud Bye

Nimmimoorthy, for this your baby's pead is the best.Have you raised this concern with him/her?Normally, what happens is, for the first year, every month, the pead checks the infant's development and takes measurement of HC, weight etc .They also enquire about the baby's milestones. If your baby is 5 months and not rolling yet, you should be asking the pead. Also, some babies who have large heads roll over a bit late. For anything, please consult the doc.

nimmi, i know babies who have not rolled over, they skip that milestone and directly go to sit up.

i was reading the other day that there are 5 milestones to be checked until one year, cant remember them in order but for sure rolling over is not there!

    Hi Rekha Viju,

That is what my mom is telling also. He has started sitting also with our support. also if we make him roll over he lifts his head nicely.

Oh, may not be a problem at all.

My son turned over only at the beginning of the 6th month....he was born a large baby and has a big head...and so I never got tensed at all.

We did help him to roll over initially and then he picked up.

He started rolling over at the 6th month and was running around the house at the 10th month.

He never sat /walked ...rolling n then running....each kid is different...each one reaches their milestone at a different time...be patient....5 months s never too late at all.

Premature babies n babies with large head take time.

Keep helping him to roll over every now n then.

Not sure if this is true or not because I have seen boys reaching milestones earlier than girls too..

Anywas, that being said recently one of my friends son did not roll over until he was almost 7 months..He was sitting before he rollved over..
Every baby is different and they reach milestones whenever they are ready...

Consult the Ped if you are really concerned.
