    Note to IL Admin: The attachment is a public interest information booklet put out by TTK Healthcare Limited, Chennai. It is a well researched document. Inputs from top cardiac surgeons of India went into its preparation. The final document was reviewed by various senior cardiac surgeons.
    The document is in the public domain and is not under copyright.
    In any case, as the author I have the right to use it. Posting it here for the benefit of IL members.

    Interesting topic for discussion.Well the document that you have attached is also interesting.Surgeon who will perform the operation is the best person to talk about certain issues or problems. He can best be explained in detail the surgical procedure and recovery times.

    Infective endocarditisb requires antibiotic treatment. Unless there is a structural damage to the native valves why should they be replaced? Was this recommended after treatment of the infection?

    That was really informative and interesting but it would have been nice if it would have been explained by pictures as it would have been easy for us to understand the whole procedure regarding to heart valve surgery.
