I very much want to wean my 15 months DD but she is just not ready
I am a full time mom and readily available to feed,I think this habit has made her more persistent on it.
I have same issues like other moms here, she bites, she wants in night every time she is disturbed from her sleep.Every month during my menstrual days when supply is less, she makes me go crazy and just does not stop sucking.
Bottle, glass, sipper i tried everything as alternate but she just doesnt take milk in them.Only water and juice she takes from sipper.Tried to stay away from her but she just does not stop crying and goes crazy.
I am going crazy and jealous of mothers who are working whose LO easily weaned.I want her to be independent and get little break for myself.Anytime she is crying ,its understood that i have to BF her even outside or i am in middle of something.

I love my DD to death but this is becoming too overwhelming for me.I just dream of a day when she will drink from bottle by herself And we can travel freely not searching for private places to BF.

tOday is one of those days ,my breasts are really sore, feeling so depressed so just venting out my feelings.I am afraid to share this with elders because people say i take my DD as a task to do and i dont want to bond.
I hope some mothers here understand my feelings .

sidrasmom, u know u should be so proud of urself that u breastfed her so long? its not easy and i know that....
is there anyone else available to feed her during the day? coz that could be a problem.
i would be working a month from now, and so we gradually started weaning her for the day, but i wouldnt have been able to do it without DH , for me its been easier since DH works from home, and he feeds her the bottle.... now that she has got used to it she doesnt complain if i feed her too...!from feeding her every 2 hours, its now come down to feeding her to sleep and when she gets up, rest of the time she enjoys her sippy/bottle...
if someone else could offer her milk, maybe that would work?
i dont hv a toddler, so i am not sure how would the weaning process be!

yesterday i was reading this nice article, and i thought of sharing.

    good luck momma!

Pon,i just dont feed her anymore at night, except one bottle at around 2 am...
i pick her up ,rock her ,walk her, sing to her, comfort her but dont feed... it is actually easy u know to just feed her and put her back to sleep, and carrying a 8-9 month old and comforting is back breaking, but this had become a habit which i thought it was about time to break. and we succeeded!
now i nurse her to sleep, then give her bottle sometime at night, and feed her wen she is up for the day.
only RARELY i dream feed her now.

that site is good,i read often

Sidrasmom - You have done a great job until now. Don't worry. With DD just 9 months, I am experiencing the same thing. You should start the bottle and may be someone else can give it to her. If she is taking a good dinner, her night feeds will only be out of habit and not for hunger. So as poonam said, try rocking her and putting her back to sleep.

Pon/Pooh - DD needs to be fed everytime she stirs from sleep and as it is not used to bottle, I cannot give a bottle in her sleep. But these days, I am keeping track of how often I feed her at nights and I want to make it once .... lets seee .... it does take a toll on me :((

Pooh, a child younger than one year will need to feed frequently with either formula or breastmilk. Night feeding is not a habit, but required for the child to meet his/her nutritional needs. In your place, I would wait for the first year before I start looking at night weaning.

tikka, i tank her up before she sleeps(8.45), takes 6 oz formula sometime in night(1-2 am) and i breastfeed her again at 6 am...so i thought she is getting her milk every 4 hours,no?
and she stopped taking her thumb at 8 months, and needed to suckle for a minute to doze off, when i realised that she wasnt really hungry as such
also with my low milk supply i breastfeed her and then top it up with 3 oz formula early morning.
yes i dont feed her every 2 hours at night though, but eventually does get her milk 6 times a day :)

heres my feeding schedule to her,do tell me if theres anything i need to improve.

6 am breastfeed plus 3 oz formula
    7.30 baby gets up at
    8.30 am breakfast
10.30 am takes bath, 5 oz bottle, naps for 1 hour
    12.30 am lunch
    3.30 pm bottle 5 oz
    5.30 pm bottle 3 oz
    6.30 pm dinner
8.30 pm breastfeed and sleep time
    11 pm(dreamfeed)sometimes sometimes not
    2 am bottle 5-6 oz

I have no idea of formula feeding past the first few months, so not sure how it works for you. She may still get enough milk except now it is in large chunks instead of at her pace and at her capacity. She will finish off the bottle, that's how children feed from bottle most of the time (maybe not when they are unwell) but that could just set a pattern for eating over and above satiety. If your child is not dropping night feeds herself when she is still an infant, it would be good to go with her pace instead of scheduling.
I am guessing you are trying to ease her into a schedule so that it wont disrupt her life when you return to work. But from all I have read and seen, night weaning may not mean longer sleep hours at night.
A toddler may need more structure and may do better with night weaning, IMO. Her wakefulness may not go away because of night weaning but may go away on its own when she is ready for it even without nightweaning when sleep maturity sets in.
Hope this is clearer than my previous post.

not sure how it is for others, but i hv seen that z sleeps better wen given a bottle sometime in the night, instead of BF ,knowing that my milk supply is meagre.
