    Hi,

First of all congratulations for going natural...its a whole lot of time & patience if u are going for this transition..anyways creating your own shampoo (which is free of SLS, GYCOLS, Parabens, dimethicones, ammonium compunds & so on ), is not as hard as you think..U just need to buy a pure castile liquid soap bottle..once u get that u can add anything u want in your shampoo..u just need to dilute it with little water ( for 1/4 amount of castile soap 3/4 amount of water is added )..other than this no specific measurements are needed for additional additives.

Take an empty 15 oz. size bottle ( u can use an old shampoo bottle ), pour the castile soap in empty bottle in about 1/4 the way ( for 15 oz. size bottle use 3.75 oz of castile soap), pour 1-2 oz of any or all the oils ( olive, almond, coconut,) into it...
if u want u can also add vitamin E oil, honey, coconut cream, various fruit juices, rosemary essential oil ( known to promote hair growth ), or other essential oils, aloevera gel or juice, amla juice, orgrapeseed oil, rose water infused with any ayurvedic herb ( remember to add only 1-2 tsp of juices, 1 tsp of oils, 2-3drps of essential oils ) then fill rest of the bottle up with water ( filtered or bottled is best ), & there u've done..it is important to shake well before each use...its a very natural shampoo, very soapy & very mild for your hair, even u can use it on your face...your hair will feel very soft, very clean after using it..

Another recipe can be prepared which will not foam but will give clean & healthy hair..

Take 300ml of water, add 2 tsp each of amla, shikakai & soapnut ( aritha ) powder, fenugreek seeds powder, stir, pour into the pan & simmer, bring it to boil for 15 mins...wash your hair with this decoction ...will give you good results.

(In traditional medicines, reetha is used to treat certain skin diseases, it contains natural saponins which lathers like soap when agitated. it is ideal for cleansing skin & hair.)

Both the above recipes are so mild that u can use them daily..

yeah... why not !!! here's the recipe :

    Egg shampoo:

    Ingredients:
    1 egg
    1 tsp of olive oil
    1 tsp lemon juice
    1 tbsp castile soap

if u have u can also add :

1/2 cup of herbal tea (optional )
1-2 drops fragrant essential oil ( optional )
    1 tsp of vinegar ( optional )
    1 tsp of honey ( optional )

procedure: Mix all the above ingredients using a blender, until the mixture gets a very smooth texture. Pour it in a bottle & store it in refrigerator.

( This mixture should not be used for more than a week so make it in small quantities )

I have been using either Liggett's Shampoo Bar (it is a special soap...leaves hair really good) or the new Kirk's Coco Shampoo (Kirk's is an old brand of coconut oil soap in USA). Both are natural. You can get through health food stores or online.
