    hi ladies,

I have a 7.5 month old baby boy and he's always on the go... never likes to sit in one place for too long. If we have him on our laps, he just wants to leap out and get going. If he's drinking milk, he'll drink for 4-5 minutes and then it's time for him to go (where I wonder ???:bonk). Is this normal?
In all the photos I've taken of him recently, he 's again on the go...

Is there any way I can make him sit in one place and focus... He hates the car seat these days... Can't wait to get out of there too... earlier he used to cozily fall asleep on most car rides. Now when he's awake, he doesn't want anything to do with the seat.

    Please share your experiences...
    Thanks

    Tej

Ha ha ha...Your post made me LOL...
It's totally normal for LO's to be hyper active specially when they start crawling...

DS is the same...He has been hating car seat for about two months now...He refuses to take a nap in it...And he is always on the go...I can't even blink for a moment...Last week I think I turned my head away from him for about 15 seconds and he climbed all the stairs and was top of the stairs:spin (I forgot to close the gate):hide:

I wish I had a solution to make them sit still...DS tries to grab the camera whenever I take it out to take a picture...I end up taking photos close to his face :bonk

Since yesterday he is trying to stand on his own and started walking with the walker...I think when he starts walking I will go more crazy running behind him....:hide:

    tej, rofl!
i think all babies are like this... mine is to!
i dont expect mine to sit like buddha in a corner of the room, but heck, she never stays still??????!!!???

wen we went to buy her a highchair DH said, it looks like a jail, poor thing will be tied up to eat? now he realises how important it is!

u know why i had to give up nursing her? she just wont stay in my lap for more than a minute, suckle a little and then off to crawling all over.then came teething which made the whole ordeal nightmarish.

long story short, they are ever so wiggly, and once the crawling starts i guess there is no stopping them!

i hv to position her in place for her to drink milk or eat food, so her rocker works for bottling her, and her highchair saves our souls for feeding her! woof!

Same as Mridu and Poonam. They are all like that. Mine moves even in sleep. And when I make her sleep she lies on the pillow, in a flash second she is off to sleep on her dad and before I can blink, she is on me ..... and then she crawl all over the bed .... and tosses and turns .... So, just CHILL !!!:thumbsup

    Hi Tej,

Like all the other posters said its very common for babies to do that. Its very cute as well but tiring sometimes. You could try the following that worked for me:

    1. Its not clear if he is bottle fed or breast fed. If you are using the bottle, by now most likely he can hold it. Put him in the cot with his head elevated and give him the bottle and stay around to supervise. If BF, just watch his wet nappies, if he has enough of them, he is getting enough milk in those 4-5 minutes. Also, you can watch his weight to assess this.

    2. The car seat- I get really concerned if he tries to move around there. Keep some colourful toys or baby biscuits to nibble on ( sure, gets the car messy and needs frequent cleaning) but in my case it worked to keep them there. After the couple of months, they get used to it.

The photographs and videos are the tricky part. You cannot get them to pose but can do it without him knowing.

    All the best!

    Tej,

Guess all babies are like that. They want to get down and explore on their own. Just like Ramya said, my DD moves a lot while on sleep. We used to comment that even a king size bed is also not enough for her. So keep cool and watch her moving. Only few more days, and when he starts walking you need to run behind him :).

Thanks ladies for your responses... It's hilarious!!! Only a few months ago was he this obedient, quiet baby caring only about the business of drinking milk, pooping, peeing and falling asleep...

@mridhusudha: yeah he comes to get my iPhone as I take pictures! hehe Glad my post got you laughing... My arms are sore after controlling his movements...
Same here, within a blink before I knew it he once rolled off the bed!!!
Btw, loved your pdf attachment on sleep. It was very helpful.

Poonam, glad to hear high chair helps a bit... I 'm thinking of getting one too... yeah he's restless while nursing too. So here's what I try (not that it works all the time)-
I take him to a quiet corner of the house and jiggle him slightly to fall sleepy and calm himself down and then put him at the breast... Helps for him to stay on a bit longer...and I noticed that he bites when he's all excited and
awake and playful... so sleepily nursing makes him just nurse.. not bite.

@sumanr- I agree with moving while sleeping.. if I put him down on one side of the crib, he'll be at the other corner in no time.. and sleeping in all different positions- side, stomach, back
side with hand on head... lol

@ilite: toys in the car only work for a short while... long drives are a challenge with him

@YesBee- thats what my sister tells me too.. he's not even walking and I say he's on the go!!!

    Tej,
DS does not sleep still in his crib at all...He moves 365 degrees...I can't imagine moving so many times in a night :spin

I agree with the car seat....Long rides have become an hell...Infact even a ride of 20-30 mins is hell these days...He HATES to sit in the seat with all the belts...

I am glad that the sleep document helped you a lot...Be consistent in whatever you follow...For sure, you will see good results

    Good luck :thumbsup

I don't know how you manage to take pics without your LO knowing...
But DS knows it most of the time whenever I take a pic/video...He watches each and every movement of mine...So he knows whenever I take the camera out and then he tries to grab the camera.... :)

I keep the video and still cameras charged and handy all the time. I take the shots when they are occupied with something or the other. Or zoom from a distance (less chances of getting caught) but like I said, can't get them to pose but have good natural shots.

    regards,
