    All,

How was your first driving class, how many accidents or tickets did you get?

I learned from a teen. The lad was an amazing trainer. My first accident was I jumped to the wrong track and hit another Maruthi 800. Well, I wanted to avoid a cyclist and hit another Maruthi. The driver was kind enough to claim the damages from his insurance.

Generally they say husbands are bad driving trainers. I never learned from ex.

    Hi CW

That was scary............ hope the driver was safe:rotfl. Here we have to take a learner's licence first to learn driving. The training given by qualified and registered trainers thru driving school only. We cannot go and hit as the trainer will be sitting next to us wherein there is a brake under his/her foot. If any mistakes likely to happen, he/she will press the brake to avoid mishaps.

I got my licence after tough and stringent training and tests in Nov.1999, last year I renewed after 10 years validity for a further 10 years.

There was no major incidents except one that hit in the side very light one when changing lanes. Two times, I got hit at the back in the the signal. A very light touch. Once a major hit at the back by a local arab guy when my DH was driving and my DD was in the front seat. Luckily escaped without any injury or trauma. It was a severe hit.

    BR
    Shanti

Actually I hit the other car after getting the learners license. This happened in my car when I was alone. When I was learning I used the driving schools car and they have the controls for the trainer too.

    Hi CW

Ok. I got it. I am sure now you must have gained that confidence to drive after the incident.

But Indian metro cities roads are really tough with very many types of irregular vehicular traffics at different speeds.

    Gud luck to u.

:rotfl"bad driving trainers" :thumbsup - Yet another thing they are bad at. :crazy

And CW want to know how bad? I never drive with my current. :biglaugh

I learnt from a trained professional - a Chinese trainer - who used to yell at me: "You killed him!!" atleast twice during every class. Got my license decades back. But till date, I dare not drive with DH by my side though I will do so again with that chinese trainer in a heartbeat. :biglaugh

Sometimes when my DW drives, she'll stop the car and say "Neeye oattu" (you drive). LOL!

Some similarity between me and your DH I suppose with respect to giving "instructions". Ellam oru safety-kku thaan solrom :) (All the instr are for safety reasons only :))

I don't have license at all - I am still learning to put "ettu" in my two wheeler :)

But I drive without license in the busy roads of Chennai and do little dashing on guys bike. Few show faces and few smiles - and that depends on their bike's condition. :biglaugh

I learnt all of my driving from my dad and mum. I don't have any accidents and in fact I passed my theory and practical test on the first try ( well for those of you in other countries wondering about this, it is not very easy to get your licence on the first try in UK LOL). And I have managed to drive on the right side as well in the US (where driving is a breeze). But I would not dare drive in India LOL

Grrrrrr.... looks like some of a husband's characteristics, God just decided to distribute fairly and equally among all to spite the wives :rant:rant

I am one of those unfortunate victims who had their driving lessons from the husband! I remember during a driving lesson after a long break< i had forgotten the basic fundaes and I thought we should use one leg each for the gas pedal and the brake :hide: At a turn, I drove right on to the curb into a bunch of trees and burst out crying. That's when I realized that my husband can handle anything in life but a crying woman. Needless to say, we returned home thinking that we had each married a complete wacko!

But even now, though in the last few years after I got my license (at the first attempt), I have on an average driven way more than hubby due to longer commutes and getting only 1 ticket (my husband has 2) and a couple of warnings, my husband has to say "stop" at a red light or "slow" near a light or "ore lane la ottu" all the time :rant:rant:rant:rant It is very annoying :rant

Mine does the exact same thing! :rant Off late he doesn't say much since he knows it makes me crazy but he has started drawing these loud sharp breaths or muttering a 'wow' under his breath when he thinks I made a mistake. We quarrel so much when I drive.

My SIL taught me driving while we at school together. Best teacher in the whole wide world! If it were up to my husband he would've had me driving around in circles in a parking lot for at least year before he let me move on to the road. :rotfl
