Tridev, I dont know why you even intended to pose a question like that. There are a lot many more factors that one considers for a R2I. Also, let me share that though chaos and misery exist in all parts of the world, people continue to live, relocate and move on. Arch
Tridev, welcome to discussions in this forum. nice to see you out of the relationship forum. i don't think it discourages anybody from going back to india. well if it were so we would not have so many of our friends going back to us after 9/11 isn't it. i agree with archana about the motivating factors being different for each of us. There is a certain magnetism to a place that wants you to return to it irrespective of the -ve or +ve. Arunadhri, i can understand the reason you have comeback with a strong reply, but let us tone it down sir. i am sure with your experience and patience, you will come back with a good discussion. sometimes, a perspective from others, about what really motivates a person to return to india inspite of problems like power cuts, water shortages and things is what Tridev must be referring to...
Om Shanti: Shanti: Shanti: Peace. I rarely provoke. Am the first to accept the realities of living in India. Just yesterday we had a 10 hour power cut in Bangalore. Before that we had a week without water. Traffic is a total chaos and at snail's pace. As an amateur astronomer I used to do a lot of sky watching. The pollution is so much that nowadays it is difficult to see even second magnitude stars. Can be daunting to even the intrepid about coming back especially if kids used to the US are to be brought back. However a one liner like the OP just calls for another with 180 degree turned around point of view as a counterpoint just to look at things with a global view. I apologize to Tridev if my response was considered offensive. It was never intended to really hurt. No malice. Yes, an 'ouch!' or 'touche' perhaps. Nothing more. Shanvy, yeah I am delighted too to see this forum on IL , My most of the time is in relationship forum as you know .. But I frequent this and health and wellness and religious thread too... I have heard and seen people discouraged looking at such things as I mentioned. It does not mean one is not going to go. One will still go may be more prepared to accept what is going to be the challenges. I do agree many people have gone back, but if you see % wise there are more people who went back who did not have option to stay back. If you see the total count of people immigrating from India and compare it with the count coming back you will see many coming back come back if they lost jobs, h1 gets over. green card problems. Some do go for family reasons ... I agree motivating factors are different for each one.. I miss India ...I am planning to be there in July and if I can find work will live there. That is my plan... Because this is no way demeaning , we get discouraged even to come to US from India, I had got , I was confused even then. But when we see chaos in India it is not the same chaos in US or other western countries. People are leading very peaceful life with no daily traffic problems,power cuts, water woes. But like Shanvy said despite all those we miss something about India which no other country can offer, no doubt, so though I feel I can get discouraged by certain things but that certainly will not stop someone really wanting to go back to India
Arundhari when I was living in Hyderabad, I used to think many times how do I live my life entire life in this chaos, day in and day out... office are horrible timings esp in IT almost midnight. go out problems in traffic. electricty and water were not so much as back ups are there... But still overall lot of problems, for e.g going to restroom if you are out. in US you can walk any store its clean and nice . There is no mad rush anywhere. Every one follows rules and laws. What you described about Bangalore I am shocked. 10 hours power cut in Bangalore city? Traffic is chaos in all cities in India... I worry a lot on that factor I have to confess....I too was fan of astronomy I had bought a telescope in Hyderabad never used. I moved out from there so....I have lot of fascination towards astronomy Not sure if you have lived abroad or not. But all that you have mentioned as problems are missing at least in US. Here one gets lot of quality time, but yes after a while one can get bored even in a very good place.....
Tridev, It is disheartening to hear of such incidents, like the one you have posted. However, I don't think I will make a decision on R2I based on that. For me other factors would matter. Very rarely will people go back if they have their visa valid for few more years Life is very comfortable in US(I do not know about other countries). Having said that, if one decides to go back(for whatever reason), I don't think the chaos will matter to them as they will gt used to it a a few months.
Thanks Neha for pitching in . I have a friend in Mumbai when I talk to him he is so frustrated with Mumbai life. he says he cannot see quality in anything. Mad rush in trains, no place to park. traffic snarls. Whenever I talk to him I feel disheartened. he said he wanted to go abroad but because of his field he could not.. I know bombay is exception in life style as so many people but its only bombay in entire India where there are no or very less power problems. Years back I had seen a ad in news paper which said only one city in India is generator free and that is bombay But if we see other cities, there are power problems. water problems etc What I feel is air of India is unique. There are problems but if we have decent home, vehicle, good income. Much problems are taken care of. The life overall is good in India if we know how to live....
Yes, Tridev.. I have also seen and heard such things... Many ppl are trying to move out for India atleast for a few years... I too a lot of my friends who are trying to move out but its just not working out...Takes time I guess..One more observation, that I have seen is,in India ppl think work is life...abroad (thankfully) this is not the notion(atleast here in U.S)... ppl give importancce to everything in a balanced way.. Anyway, like you say , air of our motherland is definitely unique and is a great place to live if we have a decent income and house....
