Being tall is a plus for sarees. :thumbsup
Since you said you are a bit on the heavier side,
- Synthetic sarees that are figure hugging when draped would do
- Cotton, Arganza may not favor you.
- Black color would make you look thinner.
- If you want your height to be less pronounced, go with larger prints / designs like big flowers, patterns etc
- Smaller prints generally will make you look taller- so decide based on your body proportion.
- Avoid sarees with stripes - it will make your waistline look bulky
- If you have big tummy, having only few pleats from the waist will help to not make it more bigger
- If you are bigger from waist above, again lesser pleats will make you look not so wide
- Use thin inskirt with less circumference so it would not add to the bulk
- If you are not too bulky, you can go for fishcut inskirts to accentuate your shape

Finally, be confident and love your body.
You will be gorgeous if you stand comfortable in your own skin.

I love to wear saree ... started collecting sarees since my 12th standard..though wore it regularly after my 2nd year of college days..

A comfortable dress for me by all means..Stiffly starched cotton saree and light weight jari-less silk sarees are my favorites..

My girls mostly wear Sarees and look figurative. (My friends (girls) back in college used to scold me :hide:.. Well to me.. Femininity is a beauty just like Masculinity. Saree brings out the best in femininity. Femininity with natural curves is adorable. What is wrong in adoring nature? Great theory, right?!:crazy)

 

After marriage i had put up a little weight and its mainly shown on my arms...
I love to wear sareee but mostly ignore it just becoz of my arms luckin little big and i feel it looks really odd...
generally my face looks thin compared to my hand size and i am really scared to put pleats on my pallu and i usually leave them free.Also i feel awkward to wear transparent saree becoz it shows my structure very well especially my bulk hands...so the main problem here are the size of my arms...
Ladies,any suggestions how i can wear saree comfortably in this case

Draping the pallu in single is a good option that you are already doing. :thumbsup
If you find the saree too transi, just take 2 wide pleats and drape it so that enough of it covers the arms. And the 2 wide pleats would make the saree less transi.

As for the blouse, short sleeves will make the arms look fatter. So go for long ones.. but beware, if you are short, long ones will make you look more shorter.. so you need to strike a balance there.

And let the sleeves do not have any puffs' or 'mini pleats' at the shoulder. It will make your arms look bigger again. If striped blouse, let the stripes on the hands be vertical. It will create an illusion of thinner arms. If the blouse design has polka dots, stitch it so the dots line up vertically.

Do not wear blouse that is too tight at the arms.. the wrinkles will draw attention there.
