What is your favorite party dress???

Even for small get-together Dinners/Potlucks I just love to wear a SAREE!!!
Thats my favorite!! I have a huge collection of sarees....both silk and cotton.
They make me feel so cool !! For any occasion I am up for wearing a Saree.

I gifted sarees to some of my American colleagues. They love it but are very uncomfortable in it. They say Saree gives you that elegant look.
I wear Saree for my office parties when it is with families.

    Please share your side too.

    HI

My favourite is well fitted designer salwars suits in shades of pink ,a sheath silhouette ,and chiffon or pure light weight silk sarees with an elegant blouse.A good groomed blouse only accentuates the saree.I have quite a lot of designer blouses,it really flatters your appearance.

I head to Soch these days(I love living in India)!!!
Their designer sarees are a hit with us(friends). I love draping sarees especially for parties. Unfortunately, most often, I'm the only one in a saree(unless a friend is accompanying us).

Sarees! My all time favorite party dress. But like you Laks, I used to end up alone in saree most often..:hide: Eventually the frequency went down. But next week there is a function in my son's school - I may go in saree. DS gets baffled whenever I wear saree though.. He says, "Ma you look different". :rotfl

Depends on the kind of party. If it is a casual party, then jeans and tops will do. If it is more formal, then maybe a cocktail or evening dress. I'll wear a Sari probably to a fancy dress party LOL Even I do find them uncomfortable and like I mentioned in the other thread, I feel like when I am going to stumble and fall wearing it. I guess it takes getting used to.

If I were to pick an Indian dress, it would definitely be Sari and nothing else. I hate the other Indian traditional dress ( Salwar Kamiz) and it is too conservative and does not accentuate your body and is too plain.

Very glad that most of you vote for Saree.....which is my favorite.

As Laks and mstrue, sometimes even I end up being the only one wearing the saree.

mywork08, what is Sharara dress? May be I will google now.

Malavika: It is just practice. May be if you keep wearing often whenever there is a chance to wear then you can find it the most comfortable dress. So many woman in India wear only sarees daily to work or otherwise. So, that says it all.

I find salwar kameez comfortable just like sweat pants/shirt, when I am really doing some heavy work, gardening etc.,

Mal, Salwar and Saree are not the only Indian dresses, have you ever tried Ghagra Choli?

No I haven't tried Gagra choli. Some of them look good but I wouldn't wanna wear the ones that covers it all like a sack.
