    Hi,
Beautiful frocks, bring back memories of DD at that age. Do you have a boutique in Blore? If so where? I can see some of them are from commercial sites but some look like its custom made hence the question.

Early in my school days we stitched one smocking frock purely hand stitched as part of our vocational studies. First the pleating is done by placing a graph paper on the cloth and performing running stitch. The needle should be in at one point and out at the next point in the graph. Graph is used as a scale to have the stitch length uniform. Once the running stitch is done on first row, the same should be repeated in the next row. You can pick the interval. Leave enough thread after completing each row. You may choose to have 5 or 6 rows of running stitch. Once the rows are complete, tear out the graph paper. Pull the thread that are hanging at the end of each row and gather the cloth. This will give the pleats. Now stitch the patters with colored thread. once the patters are done then remove the running thread completely by cutting it off at the starting point. This is how we did it. I'm not sure of any other ways of doing it. From my understanding it's totally hand made. Hope this helps.
