Hi Ladies,

I have been TTC for 24+ months and had 2 m/c in past..most of u wud have known my story.. ok my question is I heard from one of my pregg friend (she is gujarathi jain) that one shd not have a hair wash i.e shampoo the hair from 2WW until u know u r pregg..coz she said we normally take bath in hot water and when we have a hair wash in hot water the chances are that ur body becomes heat and the chances of m/c is more and also she said this has to continue until completion of 7 months...strictly no hair wash in first 3 months whatsoever...they apply sandlewood powder once in a week but strictly no hair wash...
the reason y am asking u ladies is that she just tried for one month and she conceived and now shes completed 4.5 months...

so am at that stage now where even if ppl say to apply cowdung to my hair or say any thing with regards to TTC am ready to try anything...

I am starting my 2WW in 2 days and I was thinking that I shd wait for a hair wash until I know that I am not pregg...I know this sounds wiered ladies but as I told u am ready to do anything..I have come to that stage now...
can u ladies throw some light to this??
Thanks
Uma

Sorry to say but - -- What rubbish!!
It is total nonsense and dont believe such things.. how does a hair wash have to do anything with conceiving a child (it is un-hygienic & dirty not to wash hair) if you want to follow her advise then wash hair & bath with cold water.. .. If you tell your doctor this they will laugh at you ..

Since it is taking you long to conceive.. have you & your hubby been to the doctor for a check-up??

I think this is stupid thought. Not taking head bath for 3 month...does't make any sense. As devika said.. do consult a doctor.

Dear Uma

I know while being TTC we become so desperate for small things and we end up doing what others say. But here personal hygiene and cleanliness is very important. Hopefully you may end up conceiving and simultaneously land in trouble with some other infection. Pre-conception health is all very important for healthy pregnancy & healthy baby. So please be careful.

Lots of baby dust to you.

Warm Regards
Saras

Hi Umashankari!

I am not sure about in 2ww but can say about washing hair right before your periods time will cause in get them sooner, which we had faced a lot times. Before marriage sometimes we (sister & I) used this technique to get rid of periods a bit earlier whenever there is not too important occasion at home and it worked for us every time we did. If you wash your hair the days before you suppose to get periods, you will get them immediately the same day or a day after, the reason behind this is while you are washing your hair the belly (stomach) gets pressurized, that’s why they show up little bit early. But never heard about in 2ww time though, might be for making stomach pressurized the reason behind it, I guess. but there is no shame, you can do what ever you feel to do, and what makes your positive spirits up. I can understand your situation, when you fed up with something in getting, that time even one can die to get it. so go ahead and do what you friend says. Let’s this myth will make you preggo like your friend did. All the best.

A small advise which I feel is as devika said it is not good for health/hair to not to wash hair for days. Perhaps you could just run the water through out your hair with warm/cold water twice or thrice a week. Just my two cents. Do what ever you feel to do.

Hearing this for the first time. What will the ladies at Kerala do? They take head bath everyday. Did any of those ladies have this problem?

May be while you take head bath you my get tired. Or may be the hot bath is not good? Try to have warm water bath or if possible normal water. This will do good. In 2WW i heard from people, one can avoid hot water bath or hot water bag.

If you are person who takes bath for hours, try to avoid those. I don't think beyond this is required...

Just chill yourself. Don't confuse much.
Stay positive.
Baby dust to you...

Hi everyone... Thanks for all ur replies... Since I was so desparete to ttc.... It didn't even occur to me how uh hygenic it cud be not to wash hair... I was soooo stupid to believe n take that into consideration.... As u ladies say this is really not good for health too... Might be I will have a warm water shower instead of hot.. That shd do... And as vasu said ladies in Kerala wash hair almost everyday.. I am soo obsessed about ttc that my thought process has literally stopped when she said that...

Fine am definitely not going to follow that.. But I will be careful not to take long shower or take bath in hot water...
Here in Sydney it's winter time so taking shower in normal water is totally not possible...
Thank u all... I was so dumb :-( jus to believe everything n not thinking at all...

I wish u all good luck with ttc... Baby dust to all...

Thanks again

dear bhavani n vasu.. Thanks for ur replies.. I know this wud be the dumbest thing that I have asked but for me at this stage I jus say ok for anything.. I don't know where my brains are.. Am a Tamil girl n we have never heard anything like this in our culture.. But the way my friend told me n on top of that she has not washed her hair for so long made me think this way... How silly I cud be.. This shows how desparate we become n wanted to do every thing which others have done to get pregg.. Thank god I posted this though I know that this was soo stupid of me... Anyways am not going to try like this... N as bhavani said I will nit have a hair wash before my period is due..
Thanks again...

Uma,

The question is not wierd, I have also heard from one of my north Indian friend that when she takes hair bath around 2-3 days before periods , she gets it immediately. So sometimes when she wanted to prepone it she used to have hair wash and get it. Somehow that logic never worked for my body as it had a different mechanism of working..

Her logic was when hair is washed, body's heat gets reduced and when it gets released from the body,it stimulates the uterus.

As long as you don't start stinking , I would suggest you do as per your gut feeling :) Do let us know at the end of this 2WW . Lots of wishes for it to end positively.
