    Dear friends,

I found that I have the gestational diabetes during my pregnancy.
but even now i could c my glucose levels are bit high . I am not taking any medication as of now.

I am BF my 3 month old little one and I am pure vegetarian.

Since I has to feed the baby i am eating rice and vegi meal.
I has started eating( 2 small chapatis + rice + dal+ vegi curry+ curd) , for lunch. But I am worried that my glucose levels will increase if i take more rice.
But how can I get enough food to feed my baby? If I eat other instead of rice I am worried if that will digest for my baby or not..

Can someone please suggest me good diet plan ?

    Please send me some suggestions..

    Thanks,
    Vasuk

    hi,
i'm a new member here, your query sounded similar to one of my friends. if you have found that your glucose levels are not in check, you shud immediately get the thorough check up done, consulting a doc, take her advise whether you need to take diabetes tablets or insulin. my friend use to take insulin injections 3 times a day before feeding her baby, you cannot feed your baby with uncontrolled diabeteic conditions, as far as i know. you can ask doctor for a proper diet chart if you are BF. please don't delay, consult your doc fast.

Vasu, I did not have GD but had poor glucose tolerance in the higher ranges of normal even after 3 months PP. I had to replace all of my grains with whole grain. I had to cut down on starchy food including moong dal and add more protein in to my diet. My meals were split into 6 a day, small meals, many meals in the place of three meals. At that point I had to also go on a dairy free diet to help with DS's allergies and that too helped. Like PP said I did talk to our GP for getting a sample menu.
Also, what helped me is 15 min walk around the house 3/4 times a day, preferably after meals. Exercise improves insulin sensitivity and improves glucose tolerance.
