    Hi folks,
I need your help rather advise regarding the following. Most of the ILites who have been reading my posts will know that I have been trying to put my son in Jawahar Vidyalaya, Ashok Nagar.
This year I acquired the application form and submitted it duly filled. But for some unknown reasons, the application was rejected. on the day when they had put up the selection list board, they have also put up a board advicing the parents, of those kids whose applications were rejected, to meet the principal on April 23 for futher clarification. but not waiting till that date, I have been following it up with the school authorities on a regular basis and they kept on saying I may have to meet the principal on the stipulated date. I was caught in a vortex when the school in which he studied LKG asked us to apply for TC if we have plans to move out of the school. Since JV people said there is a clarification date and principal will tell us why it has been rejected,. I was under the impression that I can set things right if there are anything that has to be done to get the application selected. During my last month's visit to the school, I told them that I wanted to meet the principal and explained them my situation of acquiring TC. But they kept saying the same thing, come on April 23. The day came and I went to meet the principal, but was stopped by a couple fo teachers only to say that she is busy (she always is, according to the teachers at this school) and there are no seats available and they cannot take in even one candidate. I got really furious, because same thing I asked her in my previous visit, what if the principal is busy on April 23 too and say you are not going to take in any students. what will we parents do who are hoping to put their kids in this school. Now having got the TC from his current school with the hope that he will be inducted into this JV, I insisted to meet th eprincipal and was triumphant in my attempt. She didn't treat us in a decent manner and refused to divulge details regarding the rejection and asked us to meet the Board or the secretary for further clarification. she was not soft enough in her speech. so am I as an anxious parent. I said it's our right to know, she again refused. My husband was a silent spectator to all these. We managed to somehow meet the secreatry, (after my two years battle to meet him in person). He said the same thing but was very amicable. The same day my husband got a call from his office saying that they got a call from JV stating that we are protesting in front of the school demanding admission for our son. Everyone from his boss to his immediate senior asked him why should he protest (which he has not done). Then I took over and told everyone that It was me who spoke and he was a mere witness to the happenings at the school. This issue is still under discussion at his office. He goes on constant official tours now that because of this personal issue, his office people have asked him to put his tour plans on hold. can a person who heads an institution imparting knowledge behave too irrational. Now, I wanna know isn't it my right to know why son's application has been rejected? I believe It's every parents' right. I am planning not to leave this matter that easily. Any educationists, tell me how I can handle this issue.
    with anticipation

Did you meet with a lawyer? To discuss what legal action can be taken against the school, even if it takes time they will not do it in future. You can file a complain on-line in public grievance Grievance Redress Mechanism in Government and also file a on-line complain to the presidents secretary :: President's Secretariat Helpline :: they usually follow-up all complaints so worth a try. You can also approach news channels like CNN-IBN they have a section called citizen journalist IBNLive News | Citizen Journalist . I really encourage you to take action because people like this will never change on their own unless they are taught what is right and what is wrong.

    Hi Joe,
It's heart warming to note that I have not done anything wrong, that is have not gone against the rule. It at all they have to do something, they should try to confront me and not do things on a sly and approach someone's office. right? it's ridiculous. this is how our education system functions here in India. that too in a school is believed to be the best.
anyways, thanx a ton for your immediate response. will consider the points you have mentioned.
    cheers

    Hi Sudhara,

Is it too late to start the application process in another school? Is there any reason why you are / were this interested in this particular school? This school doesn't seem to care much for parents's time, i would not want to put my child in such an institution. From my experience in studying in various cities in India i can say most of the Teachers, Headmasters/mistresses, Principals or any staff (even clerks and peons) don't care much for anybody else's opinions than their own, and they are often times very strict and rude. Although you are gutsy and patient to put up a fight, just keep in mind sometimes it is better to let it go , who knows it might even be a blessing in disguise you might find a better institution where they actually respect parents!! From what i understand your son is still a little guy just starting school, he has a long way to go, make it a pleasant journey for him. Good luck.

    Hi smartandsweet,
I totally agree with your comments. Though I have drafted a letter to be mailed to the principal, My DH requested not to because that might land him in more complex situations in his office. I got really frustrated and kept saying Bull, what can they do when you have not done anything wrong. I have been telling him not to get too scared. but after all he is the best judge of his situation. so the letter is still ina draft state and has not taken a final shape. As you said, I have let it go and the same day I have managed to get him admission in SRM school, but one thing that worries me is the school follows matriculation syllabus. The reasonwhy I was particular about JV was it is CBSE. but then my dad made me realise that it is going to be unified syllabus from next year and how does it matter which shcool when the government schools and the other supposed to be the best high standard schools will follow teh same syllabus. What says you? I am keeping my cool and have gone ahead by paying for registration and term fees in SRM, part of SRM Engineering, a deemed university. As you said, I have taken this a blessing in disguise and have also convinced my mom that whatever happens is only for good. let's see.
thanx a ton for your reply
    cheers

    Hi Sudhara,
Congratulations on securing an admission for your son. If one door closes another one always opens up. Don't worry too much about the syllabus systems, curriculams etc, your son will shine and have a bright future no matter where he studies because he has caring parents. Now rest your mind and get busy with preparing him for his first day at school while DH mends things at work :thumbsup.
    Good luck.
