hi friends, i have completed my mca before 5 years. now i want to refresh myself in making small projects. i totally forgot the database and report section. plz friends help to regain my vb6. thx in advance. priya sudhakar
Priya, Correct me if I am wrong.. VB6 still the latest? I believe it was around from 1998 or so.. I had worked on VB6 at that time.. And later migrated to diff tech. VB 2010 is latest, right? but again I do not know what evolved/changed etc.. I have no touch with VB for quite a while.. Anyways, to refresh what you had learnt already, doing small projects is a good way to go. Are you currently employed? If not, try to think of day-to-day usecases and try to implement it in VB. If you find yourself so out of loop, go with a good text book or online tutorials. Sams Teach Yourself series was what I used (on my own) to learn VB for a project at that time. I liked it. (I still remember.. during the initial days of my learning, I used VB to animate my current profile picture so that that girl blinks her eyes at regular intervals. ;-) ) Go about little use cases, get the env set up first - with any open source db, whatever technology stack your project may require etc and learn little by little. Be persistent with your efforts.. with the enormous online resources, you can easily get the hang of it. Good Luck! :thumbsup
hey priya Try googlefying for small projects and VB6 tutorials... You will learn a lot also join a vb tech forum and take part in the discussions.. Best wishes..
VB Complete reference book was the one that we had refered when we were studying it, and it was quite a good book and it taught all the basics very well too. Also you can try another book - Black Book in VB - though I haven't learnt from it only glanced through it, this book was recomended by our college for VB as a reference book, so could be useful But these days, everything good also exists online, so you can get some help form vb forums and all too! Best of luck :thumbsup
Dear Priya, I have been developing software for the past five years. I would be happy to help you. However, instead of going back to VB6, I suggest you start off with VB.NET Let me know if you are interested, I shall give details then
Dear Kokila, VB.net is a language used to write .net code. You can use VB.net to write code in ASP.NET ASP.NET is used to create web-based applications and services
Re: help needed to study .net I want to study VB.net. I do not have any working experience. But I want to do some small project. Can anyone help me? Thanks Choodamani
